5. We decided that we will be participating in the Patriot's Day parade. We will have a golf
cart and flags.
6. We started to plan our Cotting School event. We tried to find the best day for everyone
to go. Soon, we will look at a calendar to find the date.
7. Next meeting, we will have applications for future LYC members. Start to think of people
you know that may want to be members.
8. Mehr and Myles spoke about a Spikeball tournament at the Community Center. The CC
would be in need of nets, which we could help with. They talked about the warm
months May or June for running this event. The concern is the need for volunteers to
help the CC with this. One of our problems last year was we had minimal volunteers
from LYC due to sports, and other obligations. Again we took a pole and realized we
have about % of the members play a spring sport or are involved in something that
requires their Saturday and Sundays. We gave Mehr the name of Mrs. Nichols at LHS,
she is the community service resource and also has students available in need of hours.
Many great suggestions where given, with a good one being recruit the middle
schoolers, they would for sure attend, more than high school students. There was talk
about transportation, advertisement and location. Mehr had a great amount of
information to bring to Tom.
9. We presented and idea for the community center about a drive-in movie at Lexington
High School. There would be a popular movie playing to draw people in. Mehrl was gong
to discuss this with Tom. Potential locations could be CC or LHS parking lot. The
community center could this as an opportunity to advertise everything that they have to
offer for the high school students. We discussed having different concessions such as
food trucks.
Our next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 14th 2019 at 7:00 PM at the community
center.
Respectively submitted, Anthony Mabardy- Lexington Youth Commission Secretary
