The board reviewed the Community Health Report; 61 seniors were vaccinated at the November 1st clinic at the Lexington Community Center. 972 residents were vaccinated at the Saturday, October 27th family flu clinic from 10:00am to 2:30pm at the Lexington Public Schools Administrative Offices gymnasium. Staff and volunteers were very busy, and also pleased with the turnout, as the clinic took place during Nor'easter weather conditions. On Wednesday, December 5th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Lexington High School, LOPH will host a flu clinic for ages 5 years and older offering injectable and intranasal flu vaccine. Environmental Health report was reviewed and the following cases were discussed; Waxy O'Connors; The Board reviewed reports from Health Agent Kathy Fox, and Public Health Nurse David Neylon, regarding a chemical exposure incident on October 24, 2018. Cliffe Avenue Vacant Lot; Ethan Mascoop, Lexington Health Consultant, investigated reports of dumping at a vacant lot on Cliffe Avenue. Mr. Mascoop advised that Town Council review the matter before any determination is made by the BOH. (See November 14, 2018 meeting minutes for more detail). Consider action on rDNA regulation amendment; The LBOH will hold a public hearing on December 19, 2018 to consider proposed revisions to Article V. Tilos Therapeutics - New rDNA Permit Application; Randall Burton and Barrett Perchuk, Tilos Therapeutics representatives, reviewed operations and facility specifications for lab and office space at 65 Hayden Avenue, 3rd Floor. After some discussion, Burt Perlmutter, M.D., proposed a motion that stated, "The Lexington Board of Health grants an annual rDNA Permit to Tilos Therapeutics, upon receipt of required permits." Sharon MacKenzie R.N., CCM, seconded the motion. All were in favor. Theatre Pharmacy—CBD Oil Sales; Stephen Camelio, Theatre Pharmacy Pharmacist, met with the board to discuss the sale of CBD Oil. Mr. Camelio will conduct more research and return to a future BOH meeting. Lexington Noise Committee—Leaf Blowers Discussion; Lee Minardi and Nick Atshartous, met with the board to discuss a proposed 2020 Town Warrant Article for noise control being drafted by the Lexington Noise Advisory Committee. The Committee will meet with the Board of Selectmen and Town Manager to review this article further. The Emergency Preparedness report was reviewed and the following topics were discussed; During the recent MRPC Stakeholder meeting, Tavish MacLeod of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Office of Preparedness and Emergency Management (MDPH OPEM),presented on the joint project between OPEM and the Bureau of Environmental Health to develop an online Emergency Preparedness Portal. The portal provides a wealth of data for use by Stakeholders to support emergency planning on a regional and community level. The portal is still being developed and is not yet available for use. The Massachusetts Health and Homeland Alert Network(HHAN) recently announced the roll-out of its first stage of the HHAN Data Stream Project, automating certain types of alerts, using publicly available data. A HHAN user can now receive an automated push of Food and Drug Recalls (daily bulk messaging on individual recalls) from the FDA and/or Drug Shortage information (HHAN scans this site hourly for new info) from the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists. A message was sent to all HHAN users in October. Sharon MacKenzie R.N., CCM, motioned that the meeting be adjourned and Burt Perlmutter, M.D., seconded. All were in favor. The meeting adjourned at 8:58 PM. It was noted that the next meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 19, 2018.
