The program brochure has been mailed to residents(copy handed out) • The Pine Meadows Golf Course management contract expires this winter (12/31/18). The RFP for the golf course management contract will be awarded in the coming week, there were two companies who submitted an RFP. • Overview of Annual Report& Performance Measurements (attached) Department • Two members of our full-time staff moved on over the past month. Tyler Radicioni, Recreation Supervisor, accepted a position with the Framingham Parks and Recreation Department and his last day was November 2nd. Donna Dutton, Financial Administrative Assistant, accepted a position with the Lexington Police Department and her last day was November 28th. Both Tyler and Donna had worked for the department since 2015. Recruitment for these positions is ongoing and the intent is for both positions to be filled by early January 2019. • Full-time staff completed an American Red Cross First Aid and CPR/AED certification course as well as an inclusion training over the past month. Games for the 5th/ to grade and 7th/ th grade leagues will begin this Saturday, December 1St and the high school league will begin on Saturday, December 81h. All of these leagues, consisting of one weeknight practice and a game on Saturday each week, will continue until March. • Programs that began over the past month or will be starting shortly include the evening drop-in gym program at the Lexington High School it House, our youth wrestling clinic, and the women's indoor fitness boot camp. • There area ri el le already registered for the ski/snowboard programs at Nas Valley this winter. These programs will begin the first week of January. The equipment rental night will be held on Tuesday, December 4 1h and a meeting with the parent volunteer chaperones will take place on Tuesday, December 11th. • Recruitment for our Summer 2019 staff is underway. Returning staff will be contacted in the coming weeks and their application deadline is January 4, 2019. Thea lication deadline for new applicants will be March 1, 2019. Cam jqnjjy_�� Programming: • The November 61h Morning of Fun was attended by 14 kids ages 5-7. They participated in Martial Arts, RAD for Kids, Ukulele lessons, making cards for the veterans, and a pizza lunch. • The haunted house was a huge hit with 295 children registered for the event. The LHS SADD bake sale sold out and all the pumpkins were decorated and taken home by the children. in addition to community center and Human Services staff, there were approximately 30 SADD club volunteers who were actors in the haunted house, tour is, craft supervisors, and helped make the haunted house happen. • The community CPR class was offered on November 101h and 17th. • A new high school half day program will offer Archery Tag on March 21't. • In aneffort to increase interest for FRESH (Friday, Recreation &Social Hangout)we are changing the program to include pick up from the middle schools and go play laser to before coming back to the Community Center for free time. • Also to boost participation and potentially reach a different crowd, Family Fun Days this winter will be on Saturdays. Facility & Services: • DPW contracted a company to add another curb cutout for the LexPress bus stop so it can be easily accessible for anyone loading or unloading the bus.The project also included replacing the blue stone with slabs on concrete from the corner to the brick walkway to increase accessibility. • An LHS craft club called Crafts for Love created a number of seasonal paper crafts that were used to decorate the dining room for the annual senior services Thanksgiving luncheon. • A new display of stained glass artwork by Elliott Silverman has been installed in the display cases. A collection by Harry Forsdick was installed in the 2 d floor gallery. 6 4 gqdget & CaRital • The capital projects webpage on the Department's website is now live. This page will provide regular updates on the various capital improvement projects that are currently taking place. • The Recreation FY2020-FY2024 5-Year Capital Plan was submitted back in mid- September and staff reviewed it with the Town Manager Jim Malloy the first week of October. Staff will be presenting the plan to the Board of Selectman on Monday, December 3rd. • The FY20 Operating budget was presented to the Board of Selectmen on November 2 th 7 • FY18: o Town Pool -Ther e ial or at the Town of wrapped up for the fall on November 11t. The punch list items will be completed in the spring. • FY19: Center Recreation Athletic Ughting Project-The contractor for the athletic lights project at Center#1 and#2 mobilized earlier this week and is scheduled to continue working through the winter with an anticipated completion date of April 1, 2019. o Center Track and Field Renovatiog Pro*ect—the first community meeting was on Thursday, September 13th. Approximately a dozen people were in attendance, asking questions and expressing concerns and preferences about the project. Old Reservoir FeasibililKStu dy- is nearing completion. Based on the feasibility study, the recommendation is to renovate the existing building rather than build a new bathhouse or install a modular structure. The next step in the process is to determine the timeline for design and construction documents and, pending approval of funding at the Annual Town Meeting in the spring, the construction timeline as well. FY20: o Inter Muni!��IA �reement— Update on the IMA between the Town of Lexington and Minuteman High School.... The second design review meeting with the youth sports organizations was October 26th and the working group met on November 1St. The executive team met with representatives from Minuteman on November 15th to review the proposed terms of the IMA.
