All in favor 8-0. I. Welcome & Announcements Jenny Corduck welcomed everyone to the meeting and then told members about the School Committee Meeting in held in Boston for our METCO families on Tuesday night. Many staff members and some Lexington families from Bowman attended. It was a great turnout. Barbara Hamilton gave a presentation on the history of the METCO program and Dr. Hackett presented the new late start information. METCO families were not happy with the times they would be arriving home stating it was much too late, and there would be too much traffic. Students are not able to be part of their community when they arrive home. They would need to give up some activities, part-time jobs, etc. Members discussed the many issues/changes for the later scenario. The School Committee votes on the issue at their December 4 meeting. II. Review of the VOCAL Data Jenny Corduck shared data from the views of the climate and learning survey which was given to the students taking MCAS. 111 5th grade students took the survey. The scores are very impressive. Members discussed the results. Ellen Day left at 8:30am. III. Discussion Regarding Sagam - "Sister School" Jenny Corduck explained that each year the school decides their initiative and how to donate to their sister school. The PTA has asked about it. In the past, there have been donations and also sponsoring children to further their education. A package will be arriving soon with programs we should consider sponsoring. Members would like to see how we can incorporate students, the school, and create a consistent exchange between Bowman and Sagam. Members discussed the previous years and how to continue with students understanding what the school is doing, learning from it, being part of it/feeling connected to it. Jenny Corduck wants to find the curriculum that was used in the past and figure out how to integrate it into their day. Rosanne Barbacano left at 8:45am Meeting was adjourned at 8:48am.
