The Chairwoman opened the hearing at 7:07pm.
Presenters: Robert Buckley, attorney with Riemer and Braunstein, Ed Batten with
Batten Bros Designs, and Brad McDonald with Kiniksa.
Mr. McDonald works for Kiniksa Pharmaceuticals. The business focuses on rare
diseases. They have 16 employees and plan to grow to over 100 in the next year.
Mr. Buckley stated they are seeking relief because they are looking for a sign larger
than allowed by the bylaw. It will be visible from Rt. 2 and is non-illuminated. It will be
69.5 x 48 in, as shown in the rendering they provided. The previous sign was
rectangular and is no longer there. The proposed sign will be a much more fitting
display of the business.
Mr. Williams asked if it's large enough to see from a distance (Mr. Batten said that they
have 55 in of space but they didn't want to over-crowd the area. A 14" letter can be
read from 100 ft away).
Mr. George asked for clarification that it's non-illuminated (yes, it's non-illuminated).
There were no questions or comments from the audience.
