Introduction of newer staff: Susan Barrett,Transportation Manager Tony Serio, LCSW,Youth and Family Services Presentation: Susan Barrett reported on transportation initiatives • Tweaks to Lexpress schedule to include Emerson Gardens • Tri-town transportation study underway ..Ii.itoinirna.k�ov/tirainsiit-survey • Lex-Connect Taxi will move to all lavender vouchers and will each cost$5 • Transportation Open House and Senior Transportation Workshop scheduled for later September • Uber/Lyft in-depth presentation scheduled for early October Liaison Reports: • Minuteman Senior Services-Gary Fallick o Healthy Living offering courses on fall prevention, balance and suicide prevention; sign up required. See www.minutemansenior.org for more information. o Fall online fundraising auction scheduled; donations of tickets, vouchers and other items are solicited • Community Center Advisory Committee-Sandra Shaw o Discussion of indoor pool, decided too expensive to pursue • FCOA- Rich McDonough, Ellen Cameron o New magazine Lifetimes published second edition to wide praise o Smaller group will meet to discuss mission,values for FCOA, Betty Borghesani will represent COA o They will engage with a pro bono development professional to get ideas on best practices w/fundraising, especially in business community • Commission on Disability- Bonnie Teitleman o Assisted local dentist in landscaping his property for handicapped accessibility o Concerns about curb cuts with new sidewalks • Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee-Camille Goodwin o Public outreach ("World Cafes") planned to ask residents: What do you want Lexington to be? New Business • Lunch workgroup—no updates, working creatively with budget • Age Friendly Initiative (AFI) Charlotte and Melissa spoke w/UMassBoston on planning o Melissa will develop an advisory group to identify vision,goals for AFI; Betty and John volunteered Staff Reports Christine Dean -Community Center • Registration is open for fall programs • Successful end of summer party w/300+attending Hemali Shah—Senior Services • 2 new programs • Friday Night Dance Program • Jack the Ripper-2 person interactive plan 10/4 at 4PM Melissa Interess—Human Services • A closed 6 week spousal/partner loss bereavement group will be facilitated by a social worker from Care Dimensions; sign up required Tony Serio—Youth & Family Services • Vaping lecture Cary Hall 10/17 7-9PM Dr. Nicholas Shadi from Children's Hospital • GEN Silent-a movie about aging in the LGBTQ+community at Cary Hall followed by facilitated discussion with representatives from Simmons College, Fenway Community Health, LexPride • Tony completed QPR training for suicide prevention; he will be training community on QPR Meeting Adjourned 4:12 PM.
