September 27, 2018 Meeting Minutes
Members in Attendance: Jen Turner, Jenny Wright, Sam Bosbach, Krystal Wettstone, Dan
Strollo, Remy Coombs, Curt Barrentine, PK Shui

Approval of 5/31/18 Minutes: Approved.
Principal's Report:
• First DRUM Day, September 13.
o Half school day, spent on DRUM activities
o All year will continue work with the theme
• Fire Drill completed. Today, ALICE drill
o Only school in district running a drill with students
o Previously, had a staff drill
o Incident Management Team will meet to evaluate
o Counselors have contacted students who might be anxious
• Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
o District initiative this year. Presented to School Committee
o Work we will do on Site Council this year, including a SIP goal
Staff Report:
• HVAC renovation has had a lot of trouble
o Half the building is freezing and the other half is hot
o Facilities department has not had control on the software yet
■ Should be taking control this week
o Valve problem discovered. Software programmed inversely.
• Parking situation has improved from last year
• Back to School Night
o Sixth grade on Wednesday night; Seventh and Eighth grades on Thursday night
o Customized schedules so that parents have somewhere to go for each block,
even if a particular teacher will not be here
o November 2, all of the seventh and eighth grade will be attending "Hairspray"
field trip together with Clarke
• Substitute situation:
o Teachers are concerned with low pool and poor quality of substitute staff
o Problems occur when a lot of teachers are out due to PD
o Are there more creative solutions when a lot of teachers will be out?
Member Input:
• Would be helpful for teachers to include school in the signature
• Online registration had some confusion. Parents concerned with giving out birth date
because of security issues. Can a parent opt-out and still have student in yearbook?
o Jen explained why this happened this year. Admin Council will discuss concerns
and some changes for next year.
