Recreation Capital 5 Year Plan Update Christine Dean brought up that there are 13 items on the lists of asks in the 5 year capital plan, with six of them starting in 2020. Christine spoke more in depth about priority 1 which is the Inter Municipal Agreement with Minuteman High School for $8mi1 in 2020. This would be an exclusive agreement between the Town of Lexington and Minuteman High School. Minuteman would not open an RFP. Minuteman will be contributing $12mil to develop fields and other recreational assets regardless of the Town's involvement. Alessandro asked what the $8mil would be used for. Christine responded that a full stadium, track, tennis, and possible other items. Doug said that if this went through the Town would maintain and manage the use of this recreational athletic complex. He also mentioned that we deny approximately 2,500 hours of field permit requests per year and this article would reduce the shortage. He also mentioned that there is a working group of Town and Minuteman staff coordinating on priority 1. Francesca brought up that the Minuteman agreement is very time sensitive, and there is a lot to consider in the agreement. Some of those things to consider is the 50 year agreement and if that can be changed. An answer to the agreement needs to be made by March. 4. Committee Vacancy and Vice Chair Selection Nancy expressed that she is at a loss for words with the sudden loss of Dan Palant; she recalled that he had a great drive and constant enthusiasm Alessandro could attest to that as he mentioned that Dan gave out his phone number to all his patients and told them to call if they needed someone to talk to.Kind words and stories were shared about Dan's fulfilling life. Nancy nominated Archana for Vice Chair, Alessandro seconded, and motion was approved 6 —0. Doug brought up the idea of having a student from the Youth Commission (Mehr Khurana) participate as a committee member. This placement would fulfill one of the goals of the CCPAC,diversifying program offerings. He stated that the Youth Commission does meet on the same date and time as the CCPAC,but he did not feel that this would be an obstacle. He suggested that Mehr go to the Youth Commission for the first 30 minutes and then report back to the CCPAC the other 30 minutes. This could be coordinated for some of the meetings, allowing Mehr the opportunity to participate fully in some of the Youth Commission meetings as well. The next steps in the process would be to revise the committee charge then invite Mehr to apply to become a committee member. 5. Community Center,Recreation, and Human Services Update Christine mentioned that she met with the Volunteer Coordinator, Heather DeRose, and citizen, Bill Murphy, to discuss possibilities for intergenerational programming at the Community Center.Bill previously worked for Arlington COA and helped to build a successful program at the high school. The intergenerational book club he facilitated is still going strong. Other ideas suggested include a cooking class, ping pong, billiards, and bingo. Christine also mentioned that the free Archery demo for 60+ had about 20 participants. The 4-weekpaid session is also full with 12 participants. A prospective Eagle Scout, Jordan O'Harre, approached the Community Center with a project proposal to build three picnic tables and shade structures at the Community Center. Thomas reported that the End of the Summer Party had between 200-300 guests,in spite of the rain. Most people moved inside while we were able to move the DJ, Face painter, and yard games into the dining room. The teen interview workshop was very successful with 25 students registered and a waitlist. There was also a guest speaker who provided college interview tips. The fall session has already begun. Some of the classes that are running include: Beginner and Advanced Chess,Kids Test Kitchen, Little Coders,Business Sharks,Lego Robotics, Littlest Musicians, Women's Boxing Fencing, and Martial arts. Francesca from the Recreation Committee noted that there is still a punch list of construction items to be completed at the pool so crews will be there until November Is'. Charlotte gave updates for Human Services. She mentioned that fall classes are in full swing: OWLL, discussion groups, and trips are full.
