LEXINGTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING
Wednesday, April 11, 2018

Executive Session adjourned and the committee returned to open session at 6:35 p.m.
Present:

The minutes were taken by Kristen Cronin, Executive Assistant to the School Committee and
Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent

Agenda:
Discussion of School Start Time Options
Ian Dailey, Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Administration, provided a report of the work of
the School Start Times Task Force along with a presentation.
Highlights of the presentation are listed below and the PowerPoint presentation can be found on the
LPS District Website:
● Goal: Research, identify priorities, and evaluate all considerations to determine if a
recommendation should be made to the Superintendent to consider changes to start/end times
at the high school, middle school, and/or elementary school levels.

Ian Dailey went into further detail on the feedback that was provided from the surveys at the
elementary, middle school and high school level. He reviewed multiple options for revised school
start times for consideration, as well as the next steps and implementation timeline for 2019-20 school
year.
School Committee had some questions for Mr. Dailey and discussion continued. In closing, members
and Dr. Czajkowski thanked Mr. Dailey and the School Start Task Force for the amount of work they
put into developing the school start time options and will look forward to continued discussion on this
topic.
School Committee remained in open session and relocated to Battin Hall for the purpose of
participating in Town Meeting.
