Reports/Updates:
• The Hayden Woods boardwalk: The culverts were successfully laid. Stewards are working
with Jordan on the next section of sleepers. Jordan is working on a Stewardship Saturday.
About 200' is done; 400' remaining. .
• 25th Bikeway Anniversary will be celebrated on Sept. 29th. ACROSS takes advantage of the
bikeway as a spine for our routes. Alex is recruiting for bike rides. The idea is to recruit
people to volunteer for specific ACROSS routes.
• A Transportation Open House will be held at the Community Center on September 22, prob-
ably 10-12 am. We need to make ACROSS information available, and possibly have a
member there.
• Landlocked Forest/Wright Farm trail link: No update
• QR Codes: Action on this is awaiting update of the website. We need to get better weather
proofed holders. We can use the ACROSS Trust Fund for this.
• Route J/K update: Keith met with Carol K. and Karen. Carol will get quotes for surveying
Peacock Farm Road. Mal will look into the deed for the lot between 41 and 43 Peacock
Farm Rd. For Route J, one post is needed and permission has been given. Keith and Bob
will take care of this. Eileen and Bob will put up the ACROSS signs.
• Brochure Distribution: Half of the 15,000 brochures are out for distribution. Susan will con-
tact Melissa Tintacolis to broadcast information about the Routes and available brochures to
corporations on Hayden Ave and Spring St.
• Brochure Holder Resupply: Susan agreed the Trust will fund the cost of the brochure hold-
ers. Bob will order them.
• Route repairs: We need a sign at the junction at Whipple Hill. Bob will look into this and also
look at Route B at the Clarke Bridge to see if signage needs to be adjusted. Regarding the
Old Res reroute, Mal is keeping track of necessary sign changes. He proposes that a
team from the AMC could prune Route H this fall. He is also working completing the neces-
sary NOI application for board walk construction behind the Bridge School.
New Business:
• Belmont Country Club land sale. Keith suggested that we should request funds from the de-
veloper to develop a trail that goes from the Route 2 Ramp to the property. There are al-
ready social trails that could be improved from the property along the ramp berm. This would
connect to an existing old road bed extending from Pleasant Street to the on ramp. Ideally
the trail would be bicycle as well as foot usable. The Town will need easements from Mass
DOT and MWRA. There will also need to be funds set aside for mowing several times a
season. The next Planning Board hearings on this are scheduled for Aug 30 and Sept 12.
In the interim, we can estimate the distance for construction and mowing of the right of way,
and the funding that would be needed for those purposes. It was noted that the trails would
facilitate an easier connection to the 76 Bus. Mike, Keith and Don will be pulling together a
detailed proposal.
• 114 Wood St. The owner wants to subdivide the property. The Planning Board has already
notified the owner that the Town will need to receive an easement for the West Lexington
Greenway pathway as part of the consideration for this application
• Accessible Trail Identification. We will request Karen set up a joint meeting with representa-
tives from both GCC and the Commission on Disability regarding progress on completing the
RFP for the Parker Meadow Accessible Trail. We can look at the ACROSS trails in terms of
accessibility for the disabled, but we need to work with the Commission on Disability, as they
are the ones who are knowledgeable about this. It was suggested we invite a representa-
tives from the Commission to come to our next ACROSS meeting to discuss this.
Pending Items:
• Update from Proposed ACROSS Routes Task Group (Keith)
• For the Fall agenda: Land Management planning for the Concord Ave. Conservation parcels
(Alex)
• Expanding the ACROSS volunteer base (Susan)
