8. Historical significance.
Fence marks site of old Stephen Robbins homestead 1716) which originally stood here.
House was moved to 1295 Mass. Ave. by Helen Potter in 1940's . (Munroe district. D-1).
Eli Robbins, grandson of Stephen Robbins,liv'ed.here in 1830's & operated fur processing
business. He is credited with having built along Main St. (now Mass. Ave.) providing
houses for the.+100 workers he employed. It has been suggested that this building on
Robbins part explains the high concentration of 5 bay wide, center entrance houses
along this portion of Mass. Ave, west to Maple St.
