Date April, 1984 (Staple additional sheets here) ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE (Describe important architectural features and evaluate in terms of other buildings within the community.) There are several houses in Lexington with this sort of gable treatment (but without the dentils) . They include 24 Oakland Street, 3 Chandler Road, and additions to 19 Oakland Street (these other houses are by Willard Brown) . The source of the gable design has not been identified. It could be a Willard Brown concoction. The house is really a late variant of the Shingle Style which is given a particularly "Old English" look by the gables. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (Explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the community.) The house was built by Arthur F. Frank Turner was building a house on Winthrop Road. (Arthur Turner's father was John Franklin Turner). The last directory listing for Arthur Turner at this address was 1913. William Brown, a Boston manufacturer,was living here with his wife Grace and family by 1918 and remained into the 1930s. In 1942 the house was occupied by Mrs.Annette Spencer.
