ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE (Describe important architectural features and
evaluate in terms of other buildings within the community.)
This is one of half-a-dozen substantial Colonial Revival houses built
on Winthrop Road and interspersed among other turn-of-the-twentieth-century
houses. Features include a hip roof with dormers and an allusion to a palladian
window at the center of the second level in the form of a three-part window
_ with wooden semicircular fan above.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE:
What is now 12 Winthrop Road was known as 6 Winthrop until the 1930s.
Frederic Galloupe,who worked at a bank in Boston,was living here by 1899,with his wife Dora. He was still living here
in 1942.
