ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE
This is one of half-a-dozen widely-scattered late nineteenth century houses
in Lexington in which the major design feature is an oversize gambrel roof which
extends down over the second level. (The feature was called a duplex gambrel in
a contemporary description of the house at 2 Oakland Street.) This house
incorporates Queen Anne details: palladian window, stained glass windows, porch
with clustered columns, etc.
