Gum wood panelling restored by present owners (like house on Oakland, & 50 Bloomfield) Window seats in each bedroom Tile hearth and fire place Small bay at back too The house was built, according to the local newspaper, by Frank Peabody, secretary of the Pierce and Winn Coal and Wood Company located across from the depot. 10. ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE This is one of half-a-dozen widely-scattered late nineteenth century houses in Lexington in which the major design feature is an oversize gambrel roof which extends down over the second level. (The feature was called a duplex gambrel in a contemporary description of the house at 2 Oakland Street.)
