1. WELCOME'Chairperson (Goo1ha Ramnath)
a. Welcome to new Council member Steve Po|tooyoki
b. Save the date'Grantee reception'7/18 at 0:30pm @A|oft Lexington'all Council member, all
grantees,former Council mombor, all artists,friends and family are invited. Council members are
asked tobegin communicating the event now.
o. Discovery Day plan'Survey or Mobile Signboard? Council hos agreed to take necessary time to
develop an actionable survey as inclusive and broad reaching as possible. The mobile signpost is a
simpler thought for Discovery Day, a prime opportunity to advertise the Breakthrough artist contest
to increase applicant pool for this year. Joan has agreed to develop the signboard (picket sign), and
Jessie will order pencils tohand out.
Mark will be main volunteer for the full day, Seetha will also attend the morning.
d. Regarding the Survey, Jessie has recommended Soothatncheck inwith Comprehensive Plan re:
public arts and find out what they are they doing a survey. She will also Jessie will connect with us
with the Planning board.
o. Seetha is collecting feedback from the Council today,formulating the survey. It was recommended
by Council to the heads of each major arts groups in Town, target by end of June including
newspapers(Minutemon/Lattenoto Editor). Colonial Times, etc.

OLD BUSINESS
a. Parade Faadbaok—Lynne—Parade was rained out but a new September 29th anniversary ofthe
bike path'coordinated oo|or/artdocoration project was brought Vothe Council's agenda.Jessie
explained the project in detail and that volunteers are requested. Goetha offered to|oum more
about itanthe planning pmnosn begins with ChnUnaand requests the collaboration included the
Council for the Arts membership.
b. Lessons Loemod on Breakthrough Arhot—Jeaaio explained Joel Kowit called to her attention thee
was problem with the LaxK4ediaArtTa|kimagery ofEmmanuel College she is working to correct.
Seethaspoke with Joel toclear the air and discussed ways hoimprove the process for next year.
He also has provided copies of his pen-book from the showing at Cary Library for the Council and
others to read and has included some of the Town's most prominent educators and scientists
(including a prominent Merck researcher)expressing their interest in his works. Further details are
available ifrequired, please contact Soodhadirectly.
o. Idea Wall follow up—Library would like to coordinate Council's October event/Masquerade with
Yarn Bombing per Jessie

i Approval of previous meeting's minutes will await Rebecca's return in Juno for Aph|. May
2018. Seetha will confirm with Rebecca whether March minutes have been sent to Town
archives.

prepared with top 10 questions to ask during this years'survey
4. 2018-19 PLANNING (All Members)
a. Town Survey Design-Live Brainstorm session.All present Council members participated in
collaborative discussion. Decisions to move ahead with a shorter(less than 10 question)actionable
survey vs. "philosophical"style to motivate change. Seetha will design a draft inclusive of all parties
feedback by June meeting for final review before finalize list of major stakeholders and
communication channels. Council has agreed to revise launch to end of June.
b. Discovery Day—Mark and Seetha will attend and will coordinate with Jean and Jessie by Friday
5/25.
c. Artepreneurs 2018—Laurel has asked to provide update at June meeting on Youth arts&crafts
sale plans for December timeframe 2018.
d. Arts Summit— There is interest from the community for the Council to host an Arts Summit to bring
together all prominent leaders in each of the major arts organizations around Lexington for an open
discussion in the 2"d week of September 2018- Jessie will coordinate with Seetha with the goal of
sharing results of the Town survey.
