ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE (Describe important architectural features and
evaluate in terms of other buildings within the community.)
Part of a community of contemporary houses designed and developed by an
architectural firm, this house is individually designed but, like its neighbors, is
an example of the International Style, has similar exterior finishes, and a plan
adapted to the site (see Moon Hill area form) . In this case, the house is oriented
to take maximum advantage of the sun and view from one of the highest lots in Moon
Hill. Like the house at 34 Moon Hill Road, this house had children's bedrooms
separated by sliding plywood that could be opened to convert them into a single
playroom. Unlike most other houses in Moon Hill, however, the kitchen in this
house could be completely closed off from the dining room.
HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (Explain the role owners played in local or state
history and how the building relates to the development of the community.)
Built in 1947, this house was the first one erected in the Moon Hill
development (see Moon Hill area form) . It was designed the The Architects
Collaborative (TAC) for the family of a Harvard Business School professor.
