ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE (Describe important architectural features and
evaluate in terms of other buildings within the community.)
This high-style bungalow is the only one of its kind in a neighborhood
of generally more recent houses. It has distinctive elliptical fanlights with
tracery over the sunporch casement windows and front door. The battered porch
posts are covered with vertical panels up to the overhang and this detail is
repeated in horizontal panels under the sunporch windows. The gable roof
curves into wide, flaring eaves with the rafter ends visible. The overhangs
on the gable ends of both the main and dormer roofs have purlins supported by

ARCHITECTURAL SIGNIFICANCE
stepped brackets; on the main roof the ends of the purlins are emphasized by
small, raised rectangular panels on the fascia boards. The foundation is of
fieldstone; the end chimney of brick. The two-car garage has a gable roof with
small, raised rectangular panels on the fascia boards that repeat the similar
detail on the house.
