HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE
In the 1880s, until he built his home "Larchmont" on the land between
Bedford Street, Revere Street, and Larchmont Lane, this was the residence of
George W. Taylor. Mr. Taylor was very active in town politics and for many
years was the town's Fire Engineer (equivalent to Chief) -- as was his son,
Edward W. Taylor. He was in the insurance business.
In the 1920s and 1930s (and perhaps earlier) this was the home of Harry
W. Litchfield, whose avocation was the ownership and training of racing
thoroughbreds.
