AVENUE MASSACHUSETTS HISTORICAL COMMISSION Area(s) Form No. MASSACHUSETTS ARCHIVES BUILDING 220 MORRISSEY BOULEVARD 136 BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02125 HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Alfred Pierce who lived next door at 1377 Massachusetts Avenue had this house constructed in 1911 for his son, Clifford Pierce(b. 1885). Clifford attended Dartmouth College and was employed as a salesman. Clifford married Edith Acheson Ray of East Boston on September 7, 1910. Initially the couple lived with his father at 1377 Massachusetts Avenue. Clifford and Edith Pierce continued to live here until about 1930, along with Edith's two sisters.
