Bfilant in LHS Proceedings Vol. 2 describes farm of Deacon Brown, opposite Watertown inter
Middle (now Marrett) & Main (now Mass. Ave.) Brown family among early settlers. Deacon
Brown, 4th generation, raised beef, pork, grain & vegetables, known as a progressive
farmer. Raised cows for milk, butter, cheese, sheep for wool self sufficient farm for
o f ami ly of 9.
Descrip cont. Main block - standard l room deep, 5 bay center entrance vernacular.
Narrow stair porch, 3 turn stair in front entrance. Stair porch widened with front
addition.
See broadside, c. 1853, advertising the auction sale of the Brown fare,
in the archives of the Lexington Historical Society. It describes acreage plus
gravel pit.
