Description: Door ta .fanlight over, no sidelights, pilasters; interesting fluted pieces over pilaster capitol, (now obscured by Al. hood.) Fine dentil course at cornice; two chimneys along rear eave line. Left side porch with cut out posts, shed addition to rear. Note: House in rear (c. 1950's) moved- here in 4 '`> upon widening of Rt. 2. Formerly stood in vicinit of Watertown St. &-Rt. 2. 09F - (�S S'. This was the home of Loring S. Pierce and of his daughter, Gertrude Pierce (see Hudson, Volume II) . Loring Ellsworth Pierce, grandson of the above, was a letter carrier in the East Village for many years after 1900. The house, was built in 1802, according to E.B. Worthen. (See notation on back of Burr Church photo, Lexington Historical Society.) S. Lawrence Whipple, 1984 10. On the 1853 map the property appears to be labeled as being owned by"Lakin". According to E.B. Worthen,the upper half of the house was later occupied by George Loring Pierce and his wife, Sarah, who had two sons, Loring Ellsworth and Frank W. Pierce. The lower half of the house was occupied by George's sister, Gertrude and her mother, Frances. Gertrude was a teacher in the Lexington schools for many years. BIBLIOGRAPHY: Hudson, Charles.
