Evaluate the characteristics of this building in terms of other buildings within the community. The house at 366 Marrett Road is a modest 2 '/z-story, side-gabled structure which reflects both the Craftsman and Colonial Revival style and dates to the early 20th century. Set on a mortared stone foundation, the house is sheathed in wood shingles and is capped by an asphalt-shingled gable roof with projecting eaves. The sidehall entrance is flanked by sidelights and sheltered by a gable roof incorporating a simple truss and supported by Doric columns. Similar trusswork decorates the side gables. Windows contain 6/1 sash arranged individually and in a set of three next to the front door. The windows are set into molded surrounds. HISTORICAL NARRATIVE Discuss the history of the building. Explain its associations with local(or state)history. Include uses of the building, and the role(s) the owners/occupants played within the community. This house was constructed after 1906 and was part of the Fair Oaks subdivision, originally laid out in 1909 by Arthur E. Horton. Few houses were built as part of the original subdivision and the plan was later revised in 1924 after it was acquired by developer Neil McIntosh. This was lot 7 of the revised subdivision. It was one of five houses built in a row on Marrett Road at the same time(356, 358, 360, 364 and 366 Marrett Road). In 1932 the house was owned by John J. Stanton. It was later acquired by William Ford and by 1959 was sold by Anthony and Lena Rochette to Walter and Helen McDonald. The McDonalds continued to own the property until 1999.
