HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE (Explain the role owners played in local or state history and how the building relates to the development of the community.) Glen Road was one of the last streets to be developed on Meriam Hill. Only on this street and Upland Road adjacent were some of the houses built speculatively. Washburn,the well known contractor, opposite the Ferguson residence[29 Oakland Street, #379], has been sold by Mr. Washburn. The purchaser is Mr. John F. Ballard,who will take possession of the premises the first of September. The house is a well built,modern structure and is similar in style to the house of Mr. Chas. H. Miles on Merriam Street[35 Meriam Street, 9386]. It has ten rooms, so is commodious as well as conveniently arranged. A.C. Washburn had sold another house at 6 Upland Road to John Ballard's sister, Mrs. Fred Cloyes, in April 1906. John F. Ballard worked as a salesman in Boston.
