This is one of the house lots sold from the estate of Jonas Clarke, after
1805 (after construction of Bedford Street) .
This house, along with 7 Bedford Street, was used as residence and workshop
for the employees of Burr and Chittenden, Lexington clockmakers (see Proceedings
of the Lexington Historical Society, Volume III) .

Descrip. cont. Seems to have been excavated around foundation. Add lower story
on later NW shed. NE shed earlier? Two chimneys on N rear slope of roof. Porch
across front, square pillars, balustrade between.
