You can give us a follow at wwwJuisa lgE�!n&2Lrij =Z.r �exrecreadon. • Staff are in the process of finalizing the Fall 2018 Program Brochure. Residents should receive the brochure in the mail during the week of August 13th and registration will begin on Monday, August 20th. §MdKet &Capital c Pool—post season c Fund for Lex-'$15K 2018 o LISTA Grant-$3,500 Cinuteman -Working group o Adams-The contractor for the Adams Park accessible path project mobilized on Wednesday,July 181h and anticipates completing the project no later than Friday, August 3,d cOld Reservoir-The consultant will begin work on bathhouse feasibility study in the coming weeks. Center Recreation Complex ■ FY19 Athletic Lighting Project-Design work on the lighting upgrade project at the Center Recreation Complex continues. This project will be going out to bid shortly and is tentatively scheduled to begin in early September. Related to this project, the department recently submitted a grant application to the United States Tennis Association (LISTA)that requested funding to help supplement the tennis lights upgrade portion of the project. The department should receive a status update on the grant application in the near future Track& Field Renovation- public process(Sept 11/13) 1yAVV_k, 39 MARK E17 ROAD,LEXINGTON,MA 02421(office) 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE,LEXINGTON,MASSACHUSETTS 02420(mail) Recreation Division: • The Town Pool Grand Re-Opening Celebration that was scheduled for Saturday,June 23rd was cancelled due to inclement weather. In its place, other special events at the Town Pool will be scheduled throughout the summer. • The outdoor pickleball courts at Clarke went online on Monday,July 9th. The equipment (nets, paddles, balls) are in a storage container onsite, available for the public to use. People can reserve the pickleball courts through the PlayLocal system that is being used for tennis court reservations this year. Our summer pickleball program began on Wednesthday, July 18 • All summer programs (day camps, sports clinics, tennis programs, and swim lessons/Swim Team) began on Monday, June 25t". We reached the midway point of the season last week. There have been a few minor issues along the way, but overall, the programs have been going very well so far. This is a testament to the work ethic and dedication of our seasonal summer staff. • In addition to the daytime activities, the evening youth basketball programs have had a great response. The Monday drop-in skills clinics have been averaging between 40-50 participants each week,there are 66 participants in the boys 5th-8th grade league that takes place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and there are 48 girls playing in the 4th-6th grade 3-on-3 league that takes place on Wednesdays. These programs are being coordinated by our Recreation Supervisor, Tyler Radicioni and are being held at the Center Basketball Courts. • The Battle Green Tennis League and Co-Ed Softball League seasons are ongoing. • There are.now over 350 children registered to play in the NFL FLAG Football. League this fall (max of 416). unity r iii • In all, 32 half day and/or full day programs will take place at the Community Center oro site at local schools. Topics include: filmmaking, coding& technology classes, rocket science, martial arts, Harry Potter, chess, teen interview workshops and more! • The End of the Summer Party is scheduled for August 17. Staff updated the sponsorship opportunities and over$3800 has been donated including; Lexington Lions 1,750.00 Lexington Police 875.00 RSM 500.00 Lexington Human Services 250.00 CAAL 250.00 Rotary Club of Lexington 250.00 • The Building Use and Fees for FY19 have been implemented as of July V and the fall requests have been processed successfully and well received by the requesting organizations and individuals.
