HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-06-19-HPB-min Tft Lexington Housing LHP Meeting Minutes for June 19, 2018 Attendees: Harriet Cohen, Nancy Corcoran-Ronchetti,Jeri Foutter, Mary Haskell, Paul Linton, Wendy Manz, Bob Pressman, Melinda Walker, Betsey Weiss Absent: Rich McDonough The Lexington Housing Partnership (LHP) meeting was chaired by Ms.Walker and minutes were taken by Ms. Cohen.The meeting was called to order at 7:40 pm. 1. Approval of minutes of April 9, 2018 and April 17, 2018 Mr. Pressman moved approval of the minutes of April 9, 2018. Ms.Weiss seconded the motion.The minutes of April 9, 2018 were approved unanimously. Several minor changes were made to the minutes of April 17, 2018. Mr. Pressman moved approval of the minutes as amended. Ms. Weiss seconded the motion.The minutes of April 17, 2018 were approved unanimously. 2. LexHAB Updates/ Mr. Pressman Request for bids have been issued Busa property. A second request for bids has been issues for the Wright Farm property because no bids were received during the first round of bids. 3. Review of CPAC regional housing issues panel held on May 29/ Ms. Walker The focus of the Lexington Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC)was on regional housing issues.The panelists encouraged the attendees to think broadly and to consider how the Town might look 10 to 20 years from now. 4. Update on plans for referral of Article 42,Special Permit Residential Developments (SPRD)to the BoS and Planning Board Ms. Walker asked Mr. Pato for an update on the sub-committee that was formed to develop a new SPRD. Mr. Pato said that a charge had been created for the sub-committee, but did not know whether members had been appointed. The SPRD will not be ready for presentation at the fall Town Meeting S. Discussion of LHP board reorganization Ms. Walker handed out a list of the LHP membership. Ms. Walker reported that Melanie Thompson has indicated that she would like to join the LHP. Currently the LHP is at its full allocation of nine voting members, as specified in the LHP charge. Ms. Weiss moved that the LHP recommend to the Board of Selectmen that increase the voting membership in the charge from nine to eleven. Ms. Corcoran-Ronchetti seconded the motion.The motion was approved unanimously. Ms. Weiss then moved that the LHP recommend to the BOS that they appoint Ms.Thompson to the Board. Ms. Corcoran-Ronchetti seconded the motion.The motion was approve unanimously. Ms. Walker informed the LHP that she would like to remain on the LHP but step down as chair as of September. Tft Lexington Housing LHP 6. New Business At the goal setting,the new independent living facility on Concord Ave was discussed. Affordable housing as part of the housing was discussed.The Ciampa development on Bedford Street was also discussed.The neighborhood is concerned about introducing additional traffic and burdening the schools with children with the new development. The Board of Selectmen rank-ordered 52 candidate goals for 2019. Number 8 was planning housing (article 42 follow-up). Number 9 was Lexington housing support (with LHP's 4 suggested goals). Number 22 community housing policy(creation of new staff position for LexHAB and other housing related goals). Ms. Weiss raised the issue of the$2M commitment from the Brookhaven community for affordable housing. Ms. Weiss will ask Mr. Pato as to the current plans for the committed money. 7. Set next meeting date The next meeting will be on Tuesday,August 21 at 7:30 pm. 8. Meeting adjournment Ms. Corcoran-Ronchetti moved adjournment of the meeting. Ms. Haskell seconded the motion.The motion passed unanimously.The meeting was adjourned at 8:55 pm.
