Sponsorship
Suzanne reported that all of the letters to potential sponsors had been stuffed and were ready to
send. There were a number of extra letters and she asked people to take some and hand them to
potential donors. A number of members took the remaining letters.
Banners
Kim stated that, in order to get the banners, we need to have the specifications we are looking
for. More than one group may be sponsoring a marching unit. Suzanne agreed to get the list of
specifications so we can put the work out to bid. She mentioned that Lex Graphics might be
able to do the work.
The Stakeholders' Meeting
Lorain briefed everyone on the Stakeholders meeting that was held the day before at the Town
Hall. She described the meeting as productive. There were no real surprises. Among the
positive take-aways was an assurance by both the Police and the DPW that road construction
on Mass. Avenue will not interfere in any way with the parade. Doug Lucente also offered 70
parking places on One Militia Drive.
Lorain also mentioned that, after the meeting, Dawn McKenna had asked that we put a logo,
"Linger Lexington" on our programs. We were not sure whose logo it was. It is not the
town's. Maybe it is the logo for the Economic Development Committee? Kim sent a text to
Suzie Barry, asking whether we needed to add the logo to our programs. The reply was that we
do not have to add it and the decision was made not to do so.
The Committee then voted to approve the following parade participants:
13th Mass Civil War Re-enactors
Immaculate Heart of Mary School Band
Lexington Minute Men Company
Lexington Fire Fighters
Lexington High School Parade Band
Lexington Police Honor Guard s/Explorers
The New Liberty Jazz Band

The applications of the Old Colony Pipe Band and His Majesty's loth Regiment of Foot were tabled,
pending Sondra's negotiating a fee for their participation. The application of His Majesty's lst
Regiment of Foot was also tabled. Sondra has been in discussions with the Windjammers. They have
agreed to send the smaller group, but must submit a new application. Lorain asked Sondra to follow up
with them.
All the following no fee units were unanimously approved:

Korean- American Organization of Lexington

Lorain reported that she had received correspondence from a high school group from Staten Island that
wants to come next year for the parade like the Westfield Indiana group is doing this year. She had also
received correspondence from the Philadelphia Woodland String Band, the "Mummers," that we had
for the 300th. They were asking $5,800 to come. We will explore the possibilities of working with
Arlington and Concord to perhaps jointly sponsoring the group.
Sandy asked if she should go ahead and have the programs printed even though we could not yet
include either the Colonial Williamsburg Concert or the Westfield School Band concert. It was
decided to wait to see if the Selectmen would approve these events.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:40.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary Hutton, Co-Secretary
