Patriots Day, Monday, April 16, 2018
• Linda reported that the Stuart Highlanders, a longtime parade participant, will not be
participating in the parade this year.
• Suzanne reported on the progress of the Sponsorship committee. The TCC discussed the
proposal by the Lexington Quality Inn to offer 6 nights of room rental as a Bronze level
sponsor of the Parade. The committee came to the conclusion that only monetary sponsorship
contributions can be accepted for the Parade but wanted to encourage the Inn management to
contribute to other Town events. Suzanne to communicate with the Inn about the committee's
decision.
• Suzanne reported that the Committee to Elect Michelle Ciccolo made an application to be a
Parade Sponsor. The committee agreed to accept that application.
• Suzanne asked for volunteers to call previous sponsors who have not yet applied this year, to
encourage them to be sponsors again this year.
• Linda asked for discussion about where the large contingent of Shriners should be located in
the Parade line up. The committee agreed that they should be at the end of the Parade, to
encourage families to stay for the whole Parade.
• The committee discussed where all the buses for the many large marching units this year
should park. The committee recommended that the Lexington Police should be contacted and
asked to allow only bus parking on Worthen Road between Mass Ave and Waltham St. Cerise
contacted George Snell of the Police Dept. to ask about this possibility.
• Linda raised the issue of whether enough Porta Potties will be available for the Parade. The
committee decided that there will be enough located at the usual locations: the HighSchool, the
East Lexington Fire Station, the Parade registration desk, and the Visitors Center.
• Linda asked about golf cart assignments. Julie and Carol, Cerise and Lorain, Wayne and Bob
Tracey, and Sue and Dave Taylor were identified as golf cart partners.
• Sandy proposed that she ride with the Westfield High School buses to make sure they get to the
Parade staging area in time.
• Paul asked whether he should borrow a truck for collecting the banners and radios at the end of
the Parade. The committee recommended that he do so.
• Paul also confirmed that the radios will be available for the committee on Patriots Day.
• Mary volunteered to help Karen at the registration desk.
• Linda reported that she is recruiting Parade Ambassadors.
• Cerise reported that she will hand out tickets for the reenactment and Parade viewing stands
next week.
• Suzanne volunteered to count the number of marchers in Parade units at the end of the Parade,
to check whether they included that number that the unit promised to march.
• Linda and Sandy described the meeting that a TCC sub-committee had with the Arlington
Celebrations Committee.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Suzanne Caton, Co-Secretary
