Business
• The Chair reported that a quorum was not present.
• The minutes of the meeting of April 4, 2018, were reviewed but not approved.
• The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at the Community Center.
Feedback on Patriots Day Weekend Events
• Ceremonies in Cary Hall went very well. The hall was filled.
• The Old Guard performances on Saturday had very small attendance and only 1 invited VIP
attended. Consensus was that the committee did not receive confirmation that the Old Guard
would be performing early enough to do any publicity around it.
• Tower Park battle reenactment on Saturday: Since the Williamsburg Fife and Drum Corp
performed a concert before the battle and were in town and ready to march in the parade, the
unanimous sense of the committee was that we should pay them their fee.
• It was suggested that the Westfield High School Band should be given an honorarium.
Memorial Day Planning
• Linda suggested that Ed Loturco should be considered for Grand Marshal of the parade. The
committee requested that Linda ask Ed if he would be interested.
• Gresh and Glen have agreed to be co-narrators and MCs for the parade and ceremony.
• Lorain has a contact at Hanscom AFB who might be available to speak at the ceremonies.
• Bob mentioned that Hanscom has a speaker's bureau that we could contact when looking for
speakers for Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies.
• Linda requested suggestions for a theme for this year's Memorial Day programming, which
would help plan the ceremonies. She also asked the committee to propose suggestions for
Memorial Day program enrichment.
o Sandy suggested that we might focus on veteran women Lexington residents.
o Bob suggested that we use the book produced by Brookhaven resident veterans.
• Bob and Wayne will arrange for the wreaths for Memorial Day.
Veterans Day
Linda mentioned that planning for 2018 Veterans Day is will under way and many groups are involved
in the planning since this year is the 100'h anniversary of the end of WWI.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Suzanne Caton, Co-Secretary
