HomeMy WebLinkAbout2018-05-22-CPAC-min COMPREHENSIVE PLAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES May 22, 2018 The meeting of the Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee (CPAC), held in the Hudson Room at Cary Hall, was called to order at 7 PM by Co-Chair Sarah Felton. CPAC members in attendance: Deepak Amenani, Stacy Beuttell, Sarah Felton, Marilyn Fenollosa, Carol Sue Hai, Christian Senna, Patrick Sullivan. Hema Bhatt was present via phone. The CPAC meeting was also attended by David Fields, David Kucharsky, Carol Kowalski, Richard Canale, Ginna Johnson and Jeff Dietrich of Howard Stein Hudson. STAFF UPDATE UPCOMING DATES: Discovery Day, Saturday May 26 from 10 AM—3 PM Housing Panel, Tuesday May 29 at 7 PM in the Lexington Community Center Comprehensive Plan Logo Sub Committee, May 30 at 7 pm(location TBD) Comprehensive Plan Kick Off Meeting, June 4 in Battin Hall in the Cary Hall building. Economic Development Panel: Date and time to be determined. Member of the CPAC will be able to join the selectmen's table at Discovery Day to encourage attendance at the June 4 kick off meeting. If available,please contact the planning staff. Howard Stein Hudson was chosen as the lead consultant for the comprehensive pian. Howard Stein Hudson's proposal includes marketing and logo production, and they are open to coordinating with the CPAC logo sub-committee to produce logo and marketing materials from a local artist/s. ***PREPARATION FOR COMPREHENSIVE PLAN KICK OFF MEETING*** Planning staff will produce a number of trend reports for this meeting, related to five content areas. They include: housing, land use, transportation, demographics and economic development. Jeff Dietrich will facilitate the kick off meeting, with approximately 1/3 time spent on welcome presentation and introduction. CPAC members are then asked to listen and record comments at each content area/station. CPAC members are encouraged to spread the word about the kick off event to all appropriate personal networks. Minutes for the Meeting of May 22, 2018 Page 2 Suggestions for the event included: Add a sixth station related to the "general process" of the comprehensive plan. Two CPAC members should man each station to facilitate dialogue and take notes. Attendees should be asked what issue has motivated them to attend the kick off meeting. CPAC members should email the planning staff of station preferences, or a doodle pool will be distributed by planning staff. Name tags should be used. Add another table staffed by planning board or other town representatives to further engage with participants. ADDING AN ADDITIONAL CPAC MEMBER Carol Kowalski reported she is seeking a replacement member from Lexington's Precinct 1. ********** APPROVAL OF MINUTES ********** On a motion duly made and seconded, the minutes from the prior meeting were approved.
