PETITIONS HEARD: 59 Forest Street — Anna Smith received approval for replacement wood windows, re- roofing, driveway using compacted gravel material, and replacement wood storm and screen door. Certificate No. 99C -45 21 Bedford Street — Sharon and Frederick Gilgun received approval for replacement windows, new shutters, replacement of existing front porch including latticework under porch, and new driveway. Certificate No. 99C -46 Massachusetts Avenue /Hastings Park — Steve Hurley asked for approval to install 8 teak benches along Mass. Avenue in Hastings Park. The hearing was continued to see if some of the benches could be located along Hastings Road and to make sure they don't interfere with the Patriots Day celebrations in the park. 7 Bedford Street — Julie Schauman unable to attend. Commission approved request for custom federal shutters and replacement of shingles on back of house with clapboards. Certificate No. 99C -47. The hearing was continued for further architectural changes. CONTINUED HEARINGS: Town of Lexington Historic Districts Commission 1998 Massachusetts Avenue — Doug Hobbs not present at meting. Commission voted to eliminate bond request and to send letter regarding need for approval of shingles. Certificate No. 99C -38 1 Oakland Street — Janet Tiampo received approval for a wooden screen and storm door. Certificate No. 99C -48 6 Bruce Road — Anne Nuss received approval to expand addition to 16'x14'. Certificate No. 99C -39 1749 Massachusetts Avenue — Peet's Coffee & Tea — David Beckcom received approval for replacement of exterior marble below windows and a Hope's 5000 Series door. Certificate No. 99C -49 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE • LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02420 INFORMAL HEARINGS Minutes of July 1, 1999 Historic Districts Commission (concluded) 32 -42 Worthen Road — Battle Green Apartments — David Chapin discussed adding a fence, new sign and removal of some older trees. Commission would like to see more options without a fence; need detail for sign and hardware. Historic Districts — RCN — Thomas Steel and Barry Maffini from RCN discussed what cable installation involves. Discussed keeping cable boxes out of Historic Districts and having a single application for all work. Newton, Brookline and Watertown have similar equipment that the Commission can look at. Harrington Road/Battle Green Intersections — Rick White /George Woodbury/Nancy Kolb — Discussed temporary changes to intersections for traffic safety issues. Formal hearing needed. 1912 Massachusetts Avenue — Hancock Church — William Erickson discussed plans for reconstructing two existing concrete walkways and the addition of some exterior stairs to the front of the church. The minutes of June 3, 1999 were approved. The meeting was adjourned at 11:10 p.m.
