HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-02-05TOWN OF LEXINGTON Massachusetts 02173 Minutes of February 5, 1998 Meeting HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION Commissioners in attendance: Ian Adamson, Richard Bechtel, Mark DiNapoli, Elaine Doran, Joann Gschwendtner, and Stephen Politi PETITIONS HEARD: 1806 Massachusetts Avenue - Kathryn Fields requested approval of a wooden sign and two flower boxes. The sign will be for "Small Indulgences of the Crafty Yankee". The proposal was approved. Certificate 98C-07 1749 Massachusetts Avenue - John Hunter presented plans for a sign at Lexington Creamery. The hearing was continued. 11 -15 Waltham Street - Jeffrey Lyon proposed re- siding the building which was approved. The decision on the color was continued until the next meeting. 10 Bloomfield Street - The architect Leslie Stahl presented plans for an addition and other changes to the house. While many issues were continued to the next hearing, the french door, windows, deck, roof, gutters and downspouts were approved. Certificate 98C-09 1666 Massachusetts Avenue - Sharon Spaulding sought approval of a change in the signage " Diana Pallata Interiors" to "Lexington Estate Jewelers ". The sign was approved. Certificate 98C-10 CONTINUED HEARINGS: 72 Waltham Street - Michael Saunders wanted to change a previously approved 8' dormer to a 16' dormer. This request was denied. A vent for a gas stove was approved by a three to one vote. Mark DiNapoli, Richard Bechtel and Ian Adamson voted to approve and Stephen Politi voted against. Certificate 98C-11 1709 Massachusetts Avenue - Howard Gevertz, owner of the new Stone Soup Grill and Cafe, returned with pictures of the coach lights for the rear of the property. These were approved. Certificate 98C-12 45 Waltham Street - Joel Chambers of Guardian Savings had called to postpone the hearing . 34 Hancock Street - Bruce McCarthy requested permission to extend the existing dormer. The request was denied. HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION February 1998 INFORMAL HEARINGS: Massachusetts Avenue - John Frey outlined the proposed locations for flower barrels in East Lexington. 1430 Massachusetts Avenue - Chris Connor showed plans on a third skylight on the house, a shower vent and a chimney cap. 1299 Massachusetts Avenue - Plans which would convert the breezeway into a mudroom and extension of the kitchen were presented.
