HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-09-04TOWN OF LEXINGTON Massachusetts 02173 Minutes of the September 4, 1997 Meeting HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION Commissioners in attendance: Richard Bechtel, Walter Bergler, Sara Chase, Joann Gschwendtner, Eleanor MacQueen, and Steve Politi PETITIONS HEARD: 1 -7A Meriam Street -There is currently a mix of exterior doors on the building. The intent is to put in aluminum and glass doors for the entire building. Treatment of the unused doors that are part of the Chinese restaurant is still undecided. And will be part of a continued hearing. The issue of door hardware will be addressed at the same time. The hearing was continued. 1793 Massachusetts Avenue — Charlie Swartz presented signs for the ATM machine which will remain at this address. The sign was approved. Certificate No.: 97C -64. 11 Brigham Road - Kate McCarey presented replacement windows for her house. The windows were approved. Certificate No.: 97C-65. 1429 Massachusetts Avenue —David Grainger presented a color change and the removal of the shutters. Certificate No.: 97C -66. 1106 Massachusetts Avenue —Linda Fosburg applied to change the shingles to clapboards. They will be painted and a porch on the side of the house will be enclosed. The plans were approved. Certificate No.: 97C-67 9 Hancock Street —Gail Arnold and Tim Segall returned with plans for a gym set which were approved. There was also a discussion of the signs and plantings on the property which are the responsibility of the Town. Certificate No.: 97C-68 34 Hancock Street - Bruce McCarthy presented plans for the garage, a change of doors and aluminum gutter and downspouts. The changes were approved. Certificate 97C-69. 1646 Massachusetts Avenue —A free standing directory sign was approved. Certificate No. 97C-70 10 Woburn Street - The substitution of a block material for the originally approved granite planters was approved. The matter of outdoor furniture was continued. Certificate No. 97C-71. INFORMALS: 6 Oak Street - Howard Bernstein presented possible garage door replacements and will retum next month. Cary Lecture Series - Susan Rockwell showed drawings of a temporary sign to be used in connection with the Cary Lecture Series. She will return next month. Cellular Installation - Phil Hammond presented possible sites for the installation of cellular phone antennas. Since any would be hidden within the structures they are not a concern of the HDC. 1628 Massachusetts Avenue - Kevin Fraser presented a freestanding sign to go in front of his store Pet Mania. He will return next month. 1796 Massachusetts Avenue - Bob Enik presented a sign for Lexington Hair Styling. He will return next month.
