HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-03-05HDC Minutes 3/5/97 The Lexington Historic Districts Commission met at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 1997, in the Selectmen's Meeting Room of the Town Office Building. Present were the following Commissioners: Stephen Politi Mark DiNapoli and, the following Associate Commissioners: Walter H. Bergler, Jr. Elisabeth Cotton Joann Gschwendtner Eleanor MacQueen The Commission took action on the following requests for Certificates of Appropriateness (see attached pages): Leanne Hunt, d /b /a The Great Harvest Bread Company, 1736 Massachusetts Avenue, Battle Green District, with respect to the erection and display of signage. Dr. Shawn Seitz, d /b /a The Lexington Cat Clinic, 789 Massachusetts Avenue, East Village District, with respect to the erection and display of signage. Janet and Philip Hurd, 2016 Massachusetts Avenue, Battle Green District, with respect to exterior architectural changes. Elizabeth and Robert Whitman, 5 Hancock Avenue, Hancock-Clarke District, with respect to the installation of a storm door. Gary Larson, representing the Gingerbread Construction Company, 10 Woburn Street, Battle Green District, with respect to exterior architectural changes, landscape changes and the erection and display of signage. Marsha Lannquist, 27 Hancock Street, Hancock - Clarke District, with respect to exterior architectural changes. Carter Scott, d /b /a Transformations, 627 and 633 Massachusetts Avenue, East Village District, with respect to exterior architectural changes. Michael Saunders, 72 Waltham Street, Battle Green District, with respect to exterior architectural changes. With respect to these requests, the following action was taken: The application of Leanne Hunt was withdrawn. The application of Dr. Shawn Seitz was approved unanimously; voting in this decision were Commissioners Stephen M. Politi, Richard Bechtel and Joann Gschwendtner, and Associate Commissioners Walter H. Bergler, Jr. and Eleanor MacQueen. The application of Janet and Philip Hurd was approved unanimously; voting in this decision were Commissioners Stephen M. Politi, Richard Bechtel and Joann Gschwendtner, and Associate Commissioners Walter H. Bergler, Jr. and Eleanor MacQueen. The application of Elizabeth and Robert Whitman was approved unanimously; voting in this decision were Commissioners Stephen M. Politi, Richard Bechtel and Joann Gschwendtner, and Associate Commissioners Walter H. Bergler, Jr. and Eleanor MacQueen. The application of Gary Larson was continued until 4/3/97. The application of Marsha Lannquist was approved unanimously; voting in this decision were Commissioners Stephen M. Politi, Richard Bechtel and Joann Gschwendtner, and Associate Commissioners Walter H. Bergler, Jr. and Eleanor MacQueen. Also present and participating in the discussion was Associate Commissioner Sara Chase. The application of Carter Scott was approved in part ( and continued until 4 /3/97); voting in this decision were Commissioners Stephen M. Politi, Richard Bechtel and Joann Gschwendtner, and Associate Commissioners Walter H. Bergler, Jr. and Eleanor MacQueen. Also present and participating in the discussion was Associate Commissioner Sara Chase. The application of Michael Saunders was approved unanimously; voting in this decision were Commissioners Stephen M. Politi, Richard Bechtel and Joann Gschwendtner, and Associate Commissioners Walter H. Bergler, Jr. and Eleanor MacQueen. Also present and participating in the discussion was Associate Commissioner Sara Chase. The Commission also entertained the following informal proposals: Joyce and Martyn Roetter, 1994 Massachusetts Avenue, Battle Green District, with respect to exterior architectural changes and the installation of a section of fence. Will attend the 4/3/97 meeting. Chris Hall, representing Jim and Pat O'Conor, 13 Hancock Avenue, Hancock - Clarke District, with respect to exterior architectural changes. Will attend the 4/3/97 meeting. Jeff Kristeller, d /b /a Stellar Construction, 15 Hancock Street, Hancock-Clarke District, with respect to exterior architectural changes. Will attend the 4/3/97 meeting. Aaron Brathwaite, d /b /a International Hair Design (formally Aaron's Salon), 846 Massachusetts Avenue, East Village District, with respect to the erection and display of signage. Will attend the 4/3/97 meeting. Linda Guerra of Interior Concepts, representing the Fleet Bank, 1822 Massachusetts Avenue, Battle Green District, with respect to exterior architectural changes. Will attend the 4/3/97 meeting. Don Ambrosio of Juniper Russell and Associates, representing NYNEX, 73 Waltham Street, Battle Green District, with respect to the installation of a dry cooler on the roof. Did not attend the scheduled informal hearing, will attend the 4/3/97 meeting. Stephen Anderson of Anderson and Kreager, representing AT &T, 1475 Massachusetts Avenue, Munroe Tavern District, with respect to the installation of a radio link. Will attend the 4/3/97 meeting. Dr. Manganello, d /b /a Belmont Manor Properties, 1707 Massachusetts Avenue, Battle Green District, with respect to the erection and display of signage. Will attend the 4/3/97 meeting.
