Present xere Commissioners John R. Packard, Chairman, and Roland B. Greeley and Associate Commissioners Linda J. McAuley and Howard C. Mason. This xas not a quorum. Those present, however, agreed to hear the applicants and to vote on their applications at a hearing to be scheduled for February ii, 1981. At 8:00 P.M. Attorney William Dailey presented the plans of Maryelene R. Dailey and G. Ruth McCormick for an addition to the building at 1620 Massachusetts Avenue. The addition had already been approved by the Board of Appeals. The Commission members were satisfied xith the plans in general but asked for more details about the roof - xhich portions xould be slate and which asphalt - and about shutters for the Baptist Church side - would they touch each other or not? Mr. Dailey agreed to supply answers on Feb- ruary 11th. He also expressed interest in Velux skylights for the rear roof. These were not shown on the plans, and little enthusiasm was expressed for them, since there would be no offices on the third floor. The second applicant, Gaye Pickerel, at 8:30 P.M. presented plans for ~ "Goodies" at 1734 Massachusetts Avenue, including a sign of that name, and barnboard to replace the last of the red plexiglass panels to be removed from this location. The sign is to be dark green aluminum, xith ivory plexi- glass letters. The Commission members xere concerned that the ivory (also to be used on the barnboaxd) and green paints be flat, not glossy. At 8:50 P.M. Arlene Dunn described the 'Barrett & Worthen" sign for a coin and stamp shop at i845 Massachusetts Avenue (Giroux Building). There xill be an official hearing on March 4th and the applicant xas assured that the sign would no doubt then be approved because it xas like so many others approved for the Giroux Building. At 8:55 P.M. Barry Couette brought in a txo-faced oval sign for the new Couette real estate offices at 5 Raymond Street. It will be hung as a pro- 3ecting sign, already approved by the Board of Appeals. Mr. Couette xas assured, too, that the sign xould no doubt be approved at the official hear- ing on March 4th. The meeting was a,d3ourned shortyly after 9x00 P.M. ~ John R. Packard Chairman
