Present were Commissioners John R. Packard, Chairman= S. Lawrence Whipple; Ann Wallace; and Associate Commissioners Richard S. Morehouse and Howard C. Nason. At BsOg P.M. Mr. Myle J. Holley, Jr. presented a request for the installation of baked white aluminum gutters and downspouts on his home at 1364 Massachusetts Avenue. These would replace existing wood gutters and galvanized downspouts. The number of the latter would be reduced. After a very brief discussion it was VOTED to approve the same. While awaiting the arrival of the second applicant of the evening the Commission VOTED to approve payment of bills for publication and clerical services in the amount of $92.80. The second applicant of the evening, Pewter Pot, was represented by Mark Garner, Yice President, and Ms. Lynne O'Connell. The sign on the pre- mises at 1?10 Massachusetts Avenue was installed without Commission approval, and after months of effort, we finally had them before us to request formal approval. After a limited discussion it appeared that a majority of the Commission liked the sign and did not wish to compel the applicant to resurrect the former sign. Accordingly approval was VOTED by a margin of 4-1, the Chairman voting in the negative. Because this sign has interior illumination, a special permit will be needed from the Building Inspector. There followed a brief discussion of the Board of Appeals' decision to move the Waldorf School sign to the Library side of the driveway leading to the former Adams School. An illegal sign, reading "Antiques" with a red arrow, across the street from the Town Office Building was noted, as was the deteriorated condition of the Loralane sign in Lexington Center. The Chairman volunteered to see what he could do about those matters. The meeting was adjourned at 9s00 P.M. 2 John R. Packard Secretary
