A meeting of the Historic Districts Commission was held on Wednesday,
April 7, 1976, at 8:00 P.M. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room. Present were
Commissioners Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman; Georgia H. Williams, Secretary;
Thomas J. Holzbog; S. Lawrence Whipple; aand Associate Commissioner Oliver
F. Hooper who was appointed to fill the vacancy.
A hearing was held at 8:20 P.M. on the application of Jerry Slack d/b/a
The Cycle Lott for aCertificate with respect to the erection and display on
the building at 1640 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green
District. Robert Callahan and Frederick Pohl represented the applicant and
submitted scale drawings of the proposed signs and photographs of the
building. It is proposed to install a cut out cycle on the front and rear
doors and one on the front of the building. Following discussion on style,
size, and colors of the signs, the hearing was adjourned at 9:55 P. M.
A hearing was held at 9:55 P.M. on the application of Carrigg and Erick-
son for a Certificate with respect to the erection of a sign on the building
at 1734 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District.
John Erickson presented drawings of the proposed sign. Following discussion,
the hearing was adjourned at 10:50 P.M.
Donald Wilson presented a proposal to replace the pink, blue, and gray
shingles ont he roof of the bduilgin at 621 Massachusetts Avenue, which is
within the East Village District, with a Bird slate blend. So VOTED.
It was VOTED to approve payment of bill submitted by Barbara Gilson for
$63.80
At 11:15 P.M. Walter Judge d/b/a Interior Unlimited appeared on behalf Ali
of Interior s Unlimited to discuss his.. proposed sign for the building at
32 Waltham Street. He presented drawings of the proposed sign.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:30 P.M.
