A hearing was .held at ?e~2 P.M, on the application of Robert. W.
Crooke, D.D.S. fox a Certifioate with respect to the erection and display
of a sign on the premises at 14 Muzssy Street,,whiah is within the Battle
Green District. Mr, Pitt was appo3,nteii to .sit far'Mr. Shax whc was root
present at th® beginning of
the hearing. In addition to. the ~stltioner,.
present xere Donald E. Nickerson, Chairman of the Board of Appeals, and _ ;
three interested citizens.. 1~. Jaquith read the lega3. riotffie and the '3e#~'
ter requesting the hearing. Dr, Crooke sub®i.tted three scale draxrigs of - '
the proposed sign and ata:ted that i'L was'a 25 inch sign; designed to fit in
'the existing bracket on the building and was a white backboard with black ~~•F
letters. Mr. Nickerson ~ rotated that, even though thex'ia .~eeba a wery minor .
techicality,with respect to the Sign By-Laws, he did riot beliep+e it would•
be neoessary for the Board of Appeals to-:bald a hewing arr thi$'matter, 1
Following discussion, the hearing was closed at 7:~0 P,M. v
Tt was stated that 1~usa''s Lexington F7.ower Shop sign did not. fill the=
.space as ;had been expeoted`and also that the space under t~ sign had not
been-painted as had been required in the Certificate. ,
Mr, Jaquith stated that he had xritten to the, Nex England Telephone
Company regarding. the decision of thm Commission on the fire escape, .In
the letter he had ueated an extension.on their a
req pp~.aation and this had
been extersded to Alay 29th. , . ; , _ '

Also present were Eric T. Clarke, member of the Planning ~loard, and Ldwrarg: ,
D. Dunvan, President of the Lexington Savings Bank. Mr, Jaquith read the
1ega1 notioe and also the letter requesting this hearing.. Three sets of.,
scale drawings of the proposed building and plat plans were submitted to.
the Commission. Following discussion, it was recommended that the w3.ndow
on the front of the building be carried around the corner an the drivexay
'side .and that wired frosted glass be ir~stslled in the .u~aper part of the
metal double rear door. The architect agreed to deliver new drawings to
Mr, Jaquith the following clay so that the Commission can eat immediately n+y
