The Historic Districts Commission held a meeting on Wednesday, April
29, 1970, in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building, Lexington. Mem-
bers present were Commissioners Philip B. Parsons, Secretary; h?a.x H. Straw;
George E. Graves; Georgia H. ?4lliams; and Associate Commissioner Franklin

An adjourned hearing was meld at 7143 P.I•'. on the appliea+.ion of the
Harvard Trust Company for a Certificate of Appropriateness *~rith respect to
tl-ie erection of a ':,uildiug alid the erector; and display of signs at 17~1-
1765 hassachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. Pres-
ent for the petitioner were Iier'rert Allen, First Vice President of the
Bank, and E. T. and Peter Steffian, Architects. Also present ~•rere Joseph
Trani of Joseph Trani, Inc. of 1775 Passachusetts Avenue; Wilbur M. Jaquith,
Chairman of the Commission; and George W. Emery, Associa+~e Commissioner.
Three sets of plans and one rendering of the exterior of the proposed Luild~
ing were submitted. The adjourned hearing was closed at 9x20 F.Tf. Follow-
ing discussion, it was moved, seconded, and unanimously VOTED to issue a
Certificate of Appropriateness to the ITarvard Trust Company for the erection
of a building and the erection and display of signs at 1761-1765 l~;assachu~
setts Avenue. Participating in this decision were Commissioners pax H.
Straw, Philip B. Parsons, George E. Graves, Georgia H. Williams, and Asso-
ciate Commissioner Franklin C..iiudson.
hlr. Jaquith assumed the chair at 10;30 P.M. Mr. Jaquith read a letter
from Gary G, and LaRue Henry for an application for a Certificate of Appro-
priateness with respect to change in color of the blinds and doors of the
dwelling at 11 Iiancock Street, which is within the Hancock-Clarke District.
It was moved, seconded, and unanimously VOTED to issue a Certificate of Ap-
propriateness to Gary G. and LaRue Henry with respect to the change in color
of the blinds and doors of the dwelling at 11 Iiancock Street. Participating
in this decision were Commissioners Wilbur I'i. Jaquith, Philip B. Parsons,
Iax H. Straw, George E. Graves, and Georgia H. Williams.
Further items presented by Mr. Jaquith were letter from Czar Nicholas
and the Toad, Inc. withdrawing their earlier application and submitting a
new application (hearing scheduled for Ma.y 20th); letter regarding hearing
on landscaping for addition of T7r. & Mrs. William R. Hutchison to dwelling
at Hunt Road (scheduled for Iwfay 6th at 9;15 P.M. if landscape drawings
prepared); copies of plot plan distributed showing proposed fence location
at 1932 Massachusetts Avenue (hearing scheduled for ray 6th) and also copies
of letter written by Mr. Nye to Rev. Henry Clark of Hancock Church; letter
of thanks from Associated Estates read; and request of Lynnfield Historic
Districts Commission for representative from Lexington to appear at one of
their meetings was discussed.
