HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-11-05 411 Novemtill 5, 1967 The Historic Districts Commission met at the time and place specified in the public notice of hearing on the application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by The Clothes-Out, Inc . with respect to the erection and display of signs on the premises at 1725 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. Members present were Commissioners Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman, Philip B . Parsons, Secretary, Ruth G. Bevan, Mal H. Straw and George E. Graves and Associate Commissioner George W. Emery. The Chairman read the letter of application and the notice of hearing. The applicant was not present since drywinL;s received by the Chairman prior to the meeting were not drawn to scale and. were unacceptable . The Clerk will notify i.r. 4olf, the applicant, that an adjourned hearing will be held at 9:00 P.M. , on ifovember 15, 1967. The hearing was adjourned at 7:45 P.M. At 7:50 P.M., Mark Moore, Jr. representing Moore Homes, Inc . appeared with respect to a change in the exterior color features of the dwelling now being erected on Lot #9, Brigham Road under Certificate of Appropriate- ness #231 issued by the Commission on September 7, 1967, which is within the Hancock-Clarke District. The Chairman read Ir. Moore ' s letter with regard to said color change . Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to issue a Certificate to the applicant. Mr. Moore retired from the meeting at 8:00 P.M. Hearing was scheduled for 8:00 P.M. on the application of Harvard Trust Company for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to the erection of a fence on the premises at 1761-1765 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. The Chairman read to the Commission a letter withdrawing the application. The Clerk was directed to include the following statement and vote in the Minutes of the meeting: " letter from Harvard Trust Company dated October 2L , 1967 withdrawing application for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the erection of a fence at 1761-1765 Massachusetts Avenue was read at the time scheduled for hearing. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED that the withdrawal be accepted" . Hearing was held at 8:20 P.M. on the application of Clifford G . Hunt, D.T .D. with respect to the erection and display of two additional signs on the premises at 14 Muzzey Street, which is within the Battle Green District . The Chairman read the letter of application and the notice of hearing. Drs . Hunt and Reichheld appeared and Dr . Hunt presented full scale sketches of the two signs and photographs showing the proposed locations of the signs. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to issue a Certificate to the applicant. ado other persons having appeared the hearing was closed at 8:50 P.M. Parsons Lecretary 41, TOWN OF LEXINGTON e Masraclusettr °. 14. 4\Mll l,b tex�, •� HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS This certificate is issued pursuant to Chapter 447, Acts of Massachusetts, 1956, as amended, to Moore Homes, Inc. with respect to a change in the exterior color features of the dwelling now being erected on Lot #9, Brigham Road under Certificate of Appropriate- ness / 231 issued by the Commission on September 7, 1967 lasouttifdisetosstxt which is within the Hancock—Clarke District This Certificate is granted to change the color of the clapboards, downspouts and garage doors from the olive-drab color approved under the aforesaid Certificate to a golden eagle color to match as nearly as possible the sample submitted to the Commission at its meeting on November 1, 1967. Hunt, D.M.D. with respect to the erection and display of two additional signs on the premises as noted below, at 14 Muzzey Street which is within the Battle Green District The first of these signs consists of a wood panel 8" by 25" having a sand-finished black background with glossy black border approxi- mately 1" wide and the legend in gold letters on both sides: " John N . Reichheld, D.M.D Orthodontist " The type and style of lettering appear on the full scale sketch submitted to the Commission at the hearing on November 1, 1967. This sign is to be hung directly beneath the hanging sign on the front elevation approved in paragraph #1 of Certificate #65 issued to Dr. Hunt by the Commission on November 17, 1960. The second of these signs consists of a wood panel approximately 4 5/8" by 24" having a glossy black background and the legend in gold letters on one side: " Dr. John N. Reichheld " The type and style of lettering appear on the sketch submitted at the aforesaid hearing. This sign is to be fastened flush to the entrance door on the rear elevation of the building directly beneath the present sign bearing the legend: " Dr. Clifford G.
