The letters of the sign are to be of out-out white plexiglas and fastened to a clear strip of plexiglas which is to be pegged to the brickwork of the building. The design, layout, style and size of lettering of the sign appear on the aforesaid drawing. In issuing this Certificate for a sign of the size and in the location involved, the Commission has taken into consideration the architec- ture of the specific building involved. The issuance of this Certificate does net constitute evidence of compliance with the sign By-law or any other By-law of the Town of Lexington. The over-all height of the sign from the bottom of the lowest letters to the top of the highest letter is not to exceed three (3) feet. The detail of the design, layout, dimensions and types of building materials comprising the changes all appear on two scale drawings, one entitled "Proposed Alteration to Front of existing building, 1690-1710 Massachu- setts Ave. , Lexington, Massachusetts , Central Lexington Real Estate Trust Owners", and the other entitled "New Store Front for Ye Olde Bargain Barn ( in existing building) No. 1690 Massachusetts Avenue Lexington Massachusetts, Central Lexington Real Estate Trust Owner&' dated August 8, 1967 and detailed specifications entitled "work to be done" submitted to the Commission at the hearing on August 16, 1967. All woodwork including the entrance to No. 1698 Massachusetts Avenue, but, excluding the doors at said Street Number and the cast stone pilasters at each end of the store No. 1698 Massachusetts Avenue and the black bulkheads beneath said pilasters are to be painted white. The doors at No. 1698 Massachusetts Avenue are to be painted a dark green color to match the color of the doors at No . 1700. The hoods and lighting fix- tures to bb erected for the signs for the stores at No. 1690 and No. 1700 Massachusetts Avenue are not to extend outward from the brick- work of the building more than eighteen (18) inches, and the hoods are to be installed in such manner that the flourescent tubing is not visible from Massachusetts Avenue . The hoods of the lighting fixtures are to be of white anodized aluminum approximately four (t ) inches wide and the brackets or piping for the lighting fixtures are to be painted white. The sign is to be of plywood or masonite surrounded by a wooden molding and is to be fastened flush to the brick wall of the easterly elevation. The sign is also to include a symbol containing the letter "C" approxi- mately fourteen (14) inches high with a segmented globe approximately three (3) inches in diameter inside the letter "C" . The letter "C" and the globe are to be of dull finish black plexiglas mounted on a plexiglas background approximately eighteen ( 18) inches square of a dull finish blue color similar to the sample submitted to the Commis- sion at the hearing. District The general style, layout, dimensions and details of the design and materials of the building appear on a set of four drawings entitled "2 Family Res. Mass. Ave. Lexington #556", dated Aug. 67, by Roger A. Petrie, submitted to the Commission at the adjourned hearing on August 16, 1967. The location of the building on the lot is shown on plot plan by Albert A Miller and Wilbur C. Nylander, Civil Engineers & Surveyors, dated July 27, 1967, submitted to the Commission on August 2, 1967. All woodwork, except the shutters, and all downspouts are to be painted white and the shutters and metal bulkhead are to be painted a dark green color. The front and rear entrance lights are to be finished in a black color. All windows and window sash are to be of wood and have wood mun- tins. No more of the fourdation walls are to be exposed than is shown on said drawings and the exposed part of the walls are to be left in their natural concrete color. The Commission reserves the right to require at any time within one year after the date of issuance of the occupancy permit for the building the installation of shutters for such windows of the rear elevation as the Commission shall determine to be appropriate, such shutters to be painted the same shade of dark green as the other shutters installed on the building.
