HomeMy WebLinkAbout1967-02-15 411 111 February 15, 1967 The Historic Districts Commission met at the time and place specified in the public .,tice of the hearing on the application of Leeland Realty for a Certificate of Appropriate— ness with respect to the erection and display of a sign on the premises at 27 Depot Squae, which is within the Battle Green District. Present were Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman, Phil p B . Parsons, Secretary, Ruth Q. Bevan, George E. Graves and Max H. Straw. The chairman read the notice of hearing and the letter of application. Appearing in behalf of the application was Mr. Ward who answered questions asked by the commission members. Since Mr. Ward did not have a scale drawing of the proposed sign, it was agreed that the hearing be adjourned until February 23, at which time there would be a scale drawing of the sign available. The hearing was adjourned at 7:45 P.I . Hearing was held at 7:45 P.M. on the application of Mathematical A pplications Group Incorporated for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to the erection and display of a sign on the building at 1762 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. The chairman read the notice of hearing and the letter of application. Appearing in behalf of the application was Mr. William D. Lanning, who presented the commission with a scale drawing of the proposed sign. The commission members asked Mr. Lanning questions reg— arding the sign, and the hearing was adjourned at 8:05 P.M. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness to Mathematical Applications Group Incorporated with respect to the erection and display of a sign to be erected on the second floor level of the front elevation of the building at 1762 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. Hearing was held at 8:05 P.M. on the application of New England Telephone and Telegraph Company for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to a proposed second floor addition to the existing building at 73 Waltham Street, which is within the Battle Gr_,en District. The chairman read the notice of hearing and the letter of application. Appearing in behalf of the application was Mr. Itiliam D. Sommers of the Telephone Company and Austin J. Cribben of Hoyle, Doran and Berry, Architects. Mr. Cribben presented the commission with scale drawings of the proposed addition, schedule of exterior finish and photographs. Many questions were asked by the oommission members. The hearing was adjourned a t10:35 P.M. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness to Newingland Telephone and Telegraph Company with respect to the erection of a second floor addition to the existing building at 73 Waltham Street, w hich is within the Battle Green District. The chairman stated that he had received falls from Minute Man Publications add Elizabeth Adam. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to process these bills for payment. Mr. Straw stated that there were corrections to be made in Certificates No. 191, 192 and 193. The clerk will correct these certificates accordingly. The chairman stated that there will be a meeting on Friday, February 24, 1967, with regard to the application of First Parish Church. The meting was adjourned at 1:00 A.b�y "�. -7„ Philip B.
