HomeMy WebLinkAbout1966-11-16 • November 16, 1966 The Historic Districts Commission met at 7:30 P.M. in the Town Accountant' s Office,. Present were Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman, Philip B. Parsons, Secretary, George E. Graves and Associate Commissioners Carl E. Bryant and Donald B. white. Discussi on was had on the application of First Parish Church for a Certificate ofAppropriateness with respect to the erection of a building on 7a nd contiguous to the church building premises on Harrington Road, which is within the Battle Green District. The plans and scale drawings were studied in detail. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED THAT the chairman request the chairman of the First Parish Church Building Committee to have the architect prepare new plans of the external design of the proposed building. The c hairman read a letter from Ernest Giroux, Trustee of Minute Man Park Realty Trust, r3questing a change in color on t he first floor elevations of the building at 1833 - 1851 Massachusetts Avenue. The color chart was shown the conM issbn members. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED to issue a Certificate of Appropriateness to Ernest A. Giroux, Trustee, Minute Man Park Realty Trust with respect to a change in the exterior colorsof the building at 1833 A 1851 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. There was discussion on the application of Monument Realty Trust, John E. Boeing, Trustee, for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to changes in the exterior architectural features of the existing barn at the rear cg the premises at 18 Muzzey Street and for the construction of a driveway and parking area thereon, which is within the Battle Green District. There was discussion on the Budget and it was agreed that the budget for 196$ should be double the 1966 budget. Ths chairman plans to ask for a transfer of funds in order to meet the current years expenses. Tte meeting was adjourned at 10:45 P.M. Ph4 B. The changes consist of the followings the creation of an addition to the barn extending southerly fron the southerly elevation of the existing barn, the dissensions and the style of Which addition appear on sheets 5 and 6 of said drawings) the addition of windows on all elevations of the existing barn and skylights on the snot and west roof of the existing barn as shown on sheets 5, 6 and Ts the addition of glue sliding doors with aluminum frame on the w estsrly *lova tion;and the replacement of a corer for the bulkhead on the easterly elevation with a steel cover. The style and dimensions of the windows, doors end skylights are to be as shown on the aforesaid drawings except that no change is to be wade in the window on the northerly elevation of the b ern until a new drawing showing the style and dimensions of • new prapeead +window replacing the existing window on that elevation has been subssitted to and approved by the comaiesion. A board fens maybe erected along a line running northwesterly from the northeasterly elevation of the barn to a point opposite the ell of the house and assn running southwesterly to said ell, the fence to be located no closer to the northeasterly lot line than the present distance between the lot line and the northeasterly elevation of the barn. A similar board fence maybe erected between the barn end the ell of the hoop*. All, new woodwork of the barn and the fence except to doors and the bulkhead top are to be painted an off.whito color to oatch the existing color of the barn, arta the door of the new addition to the barn and the bulkhemd top are to os painted black. The barn roof and the addition are to be shingled with whits asphalt shingles with a color to notch as nearly as possible the shingles on the e11 of the house on said premises. Tome is to be a black top driveway running from Massey Street to a parking lot in the rear of the barn, wbioh also is to be black.-topped.
