• The Historic Districts 4'ommiaaion met at the time and place .peoified in the
public notice of the hearing on the application of Moore Homes, Inc., for a
Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to the erection of a dwelling to be
located on Lot 2, Brigham Road, which is within the Hancock—Clark. District.
Present were Wilbur M. Jaquith, Chairman, Philip B. Persons, Secretary
George E. Graven, Ruth 0. Bevan and Max H. Straw.
The chairman read the notice of bearing and the letter of application. Mr. Mark
Moore was present in his own behalf and presented the commission with three sets of
scale drawings, a plot plan, a sample of paint and a photograph of the front
entrance. The commission asked Mr. Moore questions and no one else wishing to be
heard, the hearing was adjourned at 8127 P.H.
Hearing was held at 8e27 P.M. on the application of Stop A Shop Inc., for a
Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to the demolition of the buildings
located at 30 Bedford Street, which is within the Battle Green District.
Mr. Jaquith stated that he was withdrawing from the hearing in view of a conflict
of interest with his office and the applicant. Motion wan duly made and seconded
that Max H. Straw be Chairman Pro Tempers for the hearing. Mr. Straw stated that
he had been in contact recently with Stop do Shop as a representative from the First
Parish Church, and further stated that if there was any objection from those present
that he would withdrew from the hearing. There was no objection and the hearing proceded
with Carl E. Bryant Associate Camaissioner acting in place of Mr. Jaquith.
The chairman pro tempers read the notice of hearing. Mr. Pasaniesi and Atty.
Arthur Waldstein represented Stop & Shop and presented the commission with a rendering
of the proposed removal of the buildings at the above address. Many questions were
asked Mr. Pasanisai and Atty. Waldsteia by the commission members. There were many
abettors and others at the hearing. The following asked the Stop & Shop representatives
questions and all indicated objections to the demolition of the present dwellings
Mr. Francis Morrell, Atty. Mormon Connolly representing Mr. and Mrs. Halter Johnson
and Kr. and Mrs. Ti*ot1 r Corbett; Mr. William Stetson, 32 Hancock 9tr4etl Mr. John
Sampson, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Morrison a nd Ar. R1sir Perry representing Battle Green
Apartments. Ther hearing was adjourned at 10190 L.V.
Also present at the meting were Mr. :arker. Rirtle and the architect for the
new education building of the First rariah Church, who showed the commission a scale
model of the proposed building. It was stated that Hearing on this application would
be held at 8,00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 9, 1966.
The chairman stated that he bad received a photograph of the proposed door to
be used in connection with the application of Gandolfo tndolina.
Upon motion duly mads and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to issue a Certificate
of Appropriateness to Gandolfo Andolina with respect to the exterior architectural
features of the dwelling at 12 Hancock Street, which is within the Battle Green
District.

CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
This certificate is issued pursuant to Chapter 117, Acts of Massachusetts, 1956,
as amended, to Gandolfo Andolina with respect to the exterior architectural features
of the dwelling as noted below, at 12 Hancock Steeet, -which is within the Battle
Green District.
The architectural features involved consist of the replacement of the present storm
doors on the southern elevation of the house with aluminum frame doors containing
two panels with glass or screens. The style of the doors to be install d appear in
a photograph submitted at the original hearing on October 19, 1966. The doors are
to be painted a dark green color.

CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS
This certificate is issued pursuant to Chapter 447, Acts of Massachusetts, 1956,
as amended, to Moore Homes, Inc., with respect tothe erection of a single family
dwa ling with two-car garage as noted below, at 3 Brigham Road, which is within the
Hancock-Clarke District.
The general style, layout, design and certain of the details of the design appear on
sheets 3, !t, 1 and 2 of a set of drawings by George D. Reynolds Associates, 344
Massachusetts Avenue, Arlington, Mass., submitted to the commission at the adjourned
hearing on October 19, 1966.
The location of the building on the lot is shown on the plot plan by Albert A. Millar
and Wilbur C. Nylander, Lexington, dated September 22, 1966, submitted to the
commission at said adjourned hearing„
The chimney is to be constructed of used common brick. The front entrance and walk
are to be capped with bluestone and the driveway is to be black-topped. Exposed
foundation walls are to be left in their natural concrete state. The windows are to
be wooden casement windows. There are to be blinds for all windows on the front
left and right elevations except the basement windows. The style of the door on
the front elevation is to be as shown on sheet 3 of the aforesaid drawings and there are
to be sidelight windows on both sides of the door. The basement door is to be moved
approximately 18 inches toward the rear elevation from its location as shown on sheet
!l of said drawing. All woodwork, conductors and louvers are to be painted a tan color
of a shade to match as nearly as possible the "cypress tan 70-82" sample submitted to
the commission at the adjourned hearing except that the door may be painted white.
The wrought iron railings are to be painted black. The asphalt shingles are to be
either black or a dark shade of gray.
