The Historic Districts Commission met at g•OO e.m. in the Town Locountent's
Mcims with moppet to the adjourned hearing on the application of !Baker's of Lexington,
., for a Certificate of Appropriateness with rsspsot to the display of a sign and the
areotion of awnings on the promisee at 21 Depot Square, which is within the Bettis Green
District.
Present were Wilbur K. Jaquith, Chairman, Muth 0, Bevan, George +1. 0rsves and
Associate Commissioners Donald Be White and Carl E. Bryant. Upon cotton duly ands and
seconded, it was unanimously VOTED that Muth 0. Began be Secretary Pro Tempers for the meeting.
The chairmen read the cooties of hearing and the letter •.3fapplicatisn. Ir.
0abrisl ulcer appeared in behalf of the application and presented the commission with rough
sketches and photographs of the sign end awning. Marey *costive, Pere asked by the commission
members, and the hsarigg was adjourned at 8+3$ ea.
Upon motion duly ands and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to issue a Certificate
of Appro;.rlaterasee to Baker's of Lexington, Lia. with respect to the maintenance of in awning
by the applicant en the store at 21 Depot Square, whioh is within the settle Omen District.
Upon motion duly made and asaonded, it was unanimously VOTED to issue • 'srtificate
of Appropriateness to Baker's of Lexington, ins.., with respect to the erection and display of
a sign by the applicant for the store on the premises at 21 Depart furs, which is within
the Battle 0reen District.
Wearing was held at 5135 e.r. on the application of Gandolfo andolins for a Csrtifica t
of Appropsiatenesswith respect to changes in the exterior architectural featupos of the
dealing at 12 Hancock Stre at, which is within the Bettis Green Hie tract.
Miss Marcie Dane appeared in behalf of the applicant and presented the oommission
'with a written statement from Mr. Andolina stating the changes to be made. Mies Dane
pressatsd the commission with a brochure on the type of windows and shutters to be used on
the dwelling. Mrs. Gerald Baxter appeared in favor of the epplioation and Masa Denist ted
that the Church of our Redeemer wanted to be recorded in favor of the application.

on the dwelling at 12 Hancock Street, which is within the Battle Green District.
Also present at the meeting was Mr. D. A. Psasanisi and an attorney of Stop & Shop
and Mr. Ivan Douglas of Lexington Flasa Treat. Mr. Pasaaniei stated that it i■ the intention
of Stop & Shop to present the commission with an application for a Permit for Demolition
of the hoes, at 30 Bedford Street. Rearing will be held on Thursday, October 6, 1966.
The chairman stated that he had received an application from hark Moors with
regard to the erection of a duelling at 2 Brigham Woad. Mooring will be hold October 6, 1966.

This oertificate is issued pursuant to Chapter 447, Asts of Massachusetts, 1956,
as emended to Saber's of Lexington, Inc., with respect to the erection and display of a
Sign by the applicant for the store on the premises ale noted below, at 21 Depot square, which
is within the bettie Green District.
The Sign is to be located on the front of the store rasing Depot Square in the eras above
the doorwey and store window. Moslem is to consist it the following legend painted in
black letters on a white background "maker's" with * spool of thread and needle outli,ad in
black at the left of the aforesaid legend. The length of the entire sign is to be
spproxiaatsly fifteen feet with a asthma height of lettering of seventeen inches. The
style of the lettering sppears on the photograph and sketch submitted to the commission at
the adjourned hearing as eeptmmber 8, 1966. The street address of the store "21" is not
to appear as pert of the sign. The sign m y be lighted by two floodlights saspeeded from the
condos to be located in the approximate positions shown in the aforesaid ebotograp='a
submitted at the adjourned b•'arinlg.

This eertifisats is issued pursaant to Cbsptes 447, Acts of Massachusetts, 1956, as
emended, to Biker's of Lsxingtoo, Inc., with respect to the maintenance of an awning by the
gplicent on the tors as noted below, et 21 Depot square, which is within the battle onus
District.
The awning is located above the rear door of the store premises on the northwest elevation
of the building. The owning is constructed of aluminum and is approximately 62" wide and
extends cat approximately 4641 from the bedding. The awning is presently painted bottle
green on the exterior surface and white on the under surface. This certificate for Whit
continued aaintsnence of the aforesaid awning is timed subieot to the condition that the
eppliwat paint the present {crottle green exterior surface of the awning a studs of white
to match as nearly as possible the color of the gain part of the building.
