HomeMy WebLinkAbout1966-01-12 I January 12, 1966 The Historic Districts Commission met at 8:00 P.M. in the Selectmens Room, Town Office Building. Present were Philip B. Parsons, Secretary, Wilbur M. Jaquith, Ruth Bevan, George E. Graves and Associate Commissioner Max H. Straw. The chairman being absent from the meeting, upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED that Wilbur M. Jaquith be elected Chairman Pro Tempore. Present at the meeting were John W. Silva of Stop & Shop Inc. and David Sawyer of University Sign Company. Mr. Silva and Mr. Sawyer showed the commission the proposed changes in signs to be used in connection with the new Stop and Shop building and the proposed conveyor to be used on the exterior of the building. They were advised that a public hearing will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 1966, at 8:15 P.M. for amendment of their existing certificate of appropriateness for the installation of an exterior pick-up conveyor and for a change in signs for the premises which front on both Bedford Street and Worthen Road. At 8:50 P.m. the commission met with Ernest Giroux, William Welsh, George Matheson and Otis Brown, all representing Minute Man Park Realty Trust, in connection with their proposed building on the corner of Mass- achusetts Avenue and Mariam Street. Also present was Mr. Robert Neiley, architect, who showed the commission a scale drawing of the Massachusetts Avenue side of the proposed building, and a perspective showing the view of the building from the library. Many questions were asked those present by the commission members. It was agreed thatMr. Giroux submit a formal application for a certificate of appropriateness and a hearing would be held on February 16, 1966.
