The Historic Districts Commission ast at the time and place specified in
`ie public notice of the hearing on the application of the ~~Public Facilities and
ormation Canter Committee" for a Certificate of Appropriateness for the erection
and display of a sign on the Buckman Tavern Property and for additional lighting on
the new Historical Information Building, which is within the Battle Green District..
Present wars Donald R. Grant, Chairman, Philip B. Parsons, Secretary,
Wilbur Jaquith, George Graves, Ruth Bevan and Associate Commissioner Maa H. Straw.
The chairman read the notice of hsarinF and the letter of application,
Mr. Levi Burnell, a member of the Public Facilities and Information Center Committee
and Mr. C. Harry ~rick~on, Architect, appeared in behalf of the application and
presented to the c~unission scale drawings of the proposed signs to be used in connection
with the building. Mr..~rickson had photographs shoring the signs now in the area, and
these wars viewed by the commission members. Questions were also a~ksd. The hearing
xas adjourned at 8a3C r.~.
T.he commission had discussion with regard to the proposed sign and its
location. It was agreed that the commission mast with the Selectmen at their next
meeting sn Monday, December 13, 1965a and discuss the proposed sign as well as other
signs on the Buckman Tavern property: It was further agreed that an adjourned meeting
bs bald on this application after the meeting with the Selectmen on Monday, Decenbsr 13,
1965.
Hearing was held at 8=30 P.M. on the application of B±yx°on Graffam, d/b/a
Minute Man Stamps, for a asrtificats of appropriateness for the erection and display of
signs on the building at 6 Muzzey Street, which is within the Battle ~'rsen District.
The chairman read t}b notice of hearing ark. the letter of application and
showed the commission members the scale drawings of the tro signs to be used and tkis
photographs showing the placement of the signs. Mr. Graffam was present in his ore
behalf and answered questions asked by the commission members. The hearing eras adjourned
at a:t,.5 P.M.
After discussion regarding the above application, it was agreed that tins
matter would be further discussed at the next meeting of the commission on Monday,
December 13. In th® meantime the commission members would check into the sign by-lore
of the torn,
Hearing was held at 8x45 P. M, on t ha application of Trustees of the 1775
Realty Trust for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to the demolition of
the building located at 7 - 11 Depot Square, which is within the Battle Green District.
The chai.ratan r cad the letter of application. Present in behalf of the trustsea
of the 1775 Realty Trust was Mr. Fredarick.J. Conroy, Questions rare asked Mr. Conroy
by the members, arm the hearing ras adjour~,d at 9:05 P.L. Mr. Conroy also presented
the commission with a letter granting the extension of time in which the commission has
to consider the original application for erecti®n of a building at 1777 - 1793
Massachusetts A.vsnue,
Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED to issue a Permit for
Demolition to the Trustees of 1775 Realty Trust fort he demolition of the existing
building at 7 - 11 Depot Square, which is xithin the~Batt~le Green
District.
