110 September 9, 1965 The Historic Districts Commission met at the time and place specified in the public notice of the hearing on the application of the Trustees of 1775 Realty Trust for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to the demolition of the building located at 1777 - 1793 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. Present were Donald R. Grant, Chairman, Philip B. Parsons, Secretary, Ruth Bevan and Wilbur M. Jaquith and Associate Commissioners Max H. Straw and Donald B. White. The chairman read the notice of hearing and the letter of application dated August 12, 1965. Present in behalf of the application was Mr. Frederick J. Conroy, Attorney for the Trustees of the 1775 Realty Trust, who answered questions asked by the commission members. Mr. Lincoln P. Cole, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen stated that the Board of Selectmen were unanimously in favor of the granting of this permit. The hearing was adjourned at 8:10 P.M. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to issue a Permit for Demolition to the Trustees of 1775 Realty Trust for the demolition of the existing building at 1777 - 1793 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. Mr. Wilbur M. Jaquith did not vote on this application. Also present at the meeting were Mr. Raymond Scheublin, President Lexington Trust Company and Mr. Paul, Architect, the hearing of which was continued from August 5, 1965. Mr. Scheublin presented the commission with a set of three scale drawings of the proposed changes in the existing building at 9 Muzzey Street, the parking lot and driveways. Questions were asked by the commission members, and there being no further questions ffom those present at the hearing, the hearing was adjourned at 8:30 P.M. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to grant a Certificate of Appropriateness to Lexington Trust Company with respect to changes in the exterior architectural features of the building at 9 Muzzey Street and with respect to changes in the parking lot and driveways is the area between the bank building, as to be extended pursuant to Certificate No. 1142 issued under date of May 20, 1965, and to the office building at 9 Muzzey Street, which is within the Battle Green District. Hearing was held at 8:30 P. M. on the application of Trustees of Felix Realty Trust for a 4ertificate of Appropriateness with respect to changes in the exterior architectural features of the building and as to certain signs to be erected on said buildings at 1806 - 1810 Massachusetts Avenue on the corner of Muzzey Street, which is within the Battle Green District, Present in behalf of the application were C. Harry Erickson, Architect, and Mr. Earle B. Street of Street and Co., Inc., the managing real estate agents for Felix Realty Trust. Mr. Erickson presented the commission with a scale drawing which showed the proposed changes on the building, and a drawing of the • proposed sign to be erected at 1810 Massachusetts Avenue by Theatre Camera, the hearing of which was continued from August 6, 1965. Mr. Erickson also showed the commission photographs of other signs along Massachusetts Avenue. Many questions were asked Mr. Erickson and Mr. Street. The hearing was adjourned at 9:15 P.M. )965 Upon notion duly wade a n3 seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to grant a Certificate of Appropriateness to Trustees of Felix Realty Trust with respect to changes in the exterior architectural features of the building at 1806 - 1810 Mass- achusetts Avenue, on the corner of Muzzey Street, which is within the Battle Green District. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to grant a Certificate of Appropriateness to Threatre Pharmacy Inc. with respect to the erection and display of two new signs on the building at 1810 Massachusetts Avenue at the corner of Muzsey Street, which is within the Battle Green District. The chairman asked if there was any one present representing the Trustees of Cary Memorial Library. No one was present. Hearing was held on July 7, 1965, on the application of Cary Library for a Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to changes in the exterior architectural features of the Library and the surrounding structures at 1874 Massachusetts, which is within the Battle Green District. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously VOTED to Deny the application of the Trustees of Cary Memorial Library for the lack of prosecution and without prejudice to the renewal of the application or the filing of a different application at a later date.
