The Historic Districts Commission met at the time and place specified in
the public notice of the hearing on the application of Lexington Trust
Company for a certificate of appropriateness to remove a portion of an existing
building at 7 Muzzey Str et and for a Certificate of Appropriateness as to the
exterior architectural features of the remaining portion of such building at
9 Muzzey Street, which is within the Battle Green District.
Present were Donald R. Urant, Chairman, :hilip B. .'arsons„ Secretary, Ruth
Bevan, Wilbur M. Jaquith and Associate Commissioner Max H. Straw.
The chairman read the letter of application and the notice of hearing. Mr.
Raymond Scheublin, President, Lexington Trust Company, was present in behalf of
the application and Mr. Paul was present in behalf of Thomas dames Company,
Architects. The a_ plicant presented the commission with four photographs of the
buildings as they now exist and two scale drawings showing the proposed changes.
Many questions were asked by the commission members. It was agreed that the
commission issue a Permit for Demolition or Removal at this time and t :e
applicant meet with the commission on September 9 to further discuss the changes
ix the office building. At that time Mr. Scheublin plans to have a plot plan
of the buiLr'ing as well as drawings of the driveways, etc.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VOTED to issue a Permit for
Demolition or Removal of Existing Building at 7 Muzzey Stre.t, which is attached
to the existinc office ouilding at 9 Muzzey Street, which is within the Battle
Green District.
Hearing was held on the application of Theatre Phammacy Inc., for a
Certificate of Appropriateness with respect to proposed changes in the exterior
architectural features of and with respect to new signs to be displayed on
the premises at 1810 Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District.
Tie chairman read the letter of application. Mr. C. Harry Erickson, Architect,
appeared in behalf of t -e applicant and presented the commission with a
perspective and two photographs of the front of the building at 1810
and 1806 Massachusetts Avenue and stated that the front of the building would be
changed and that new signs would be erected at each store. After much discussion it
was agreed to continue the hearing until September 9, 1965, in order that a
hearing would b: properly advertised, and at the sane time Mr. Erickson would
have available scale drawings of the proposed signs.
Mr. Jaquith stated that he had been unable to contact Robert Cataldo regarding
the application of Cary Library. However, he has a signed extension of time
in which the commission may act on the application, and it is intended that the
Library meet with the commission on September 9, 1965.
