HomeMy WebLinkAbout1965-07-07 July 7, 1965 The Historic Districts Commission met at the time and place specified in the public notice of the hearing on the application of Cary Memorial Library for a Certificate of Ap_,ropriateness with respect to changes in the exterior architectural features of the Library and the surrounding structures at 187i~ Massachusetts Avenue, which is within the Battle Green District. Present were 'r~ilbur M. Jaquith, Philip B. Parsons, Ruth Bevan and ,tlssocia.te Members Carl E. Bryant, Donald R. White and Max H. Straw. The chairman, being absent from the meeting, upon motion duly made and seconded, it was VO'ED that 'ti~lilbur M. Jaquith be elected Chairman Prc Tempore for this meeting. The chairman read the letter of application and the notice of hearing. Rev. Harold T. Handley, Vice President of the Library Trustees, was present in behalf of the applicant. Rev. Handley showed the commission a set of drawings, and the commission members asked many questions.. In many instances the drawings were not clear, and it was agreed to have the Library Trustees submit a set of scare drawings at the next meeting on either Dula 21 or July 28. It was agreed that the chairman would contact ~I-r. Robert Cataldo and Mr. Karl lSyren, Librarian, and the cpmmissi.on members would view the ;property concerned. Also present in behalf of Lexington Medical Building was Dr, Charles Ellicott, who stated that he was in favor of the proposed plans for the Library. The meeting was adjourned at 10:15 Philip S.
